 My Snowy Day
This series has a new theme for 2013: The Power of Children's Literature.

Read famed illustrator Floyd Cooper's poetic tribute to Ezra, which underscores the tremendous contribution one book can make.

Want to take a trip to outer space? Use your imagination! That's the idea behind this fun, engaging first-grade lesson plan, based on Regards to the Man in the Moon.
The popular page "If You Love The Snowy Day..." has a new name! We're still highlighting a Keats "book of the month" and fun bonus features, plus we'll be adding exciting offers for Keats Book Club members.

Dear Friends,

We hope the new year began on a high note for many of you. And for those still struggling in Sandy's aftermath, we hope the new year will bring full recovery and a return to normalcy.

February is Black History Month, a perfect opportunity for children to learn that American history belongs to all of us. We've put together a list of books, with wonderful illustrations, that tell the stories of the Africans and African-Americans whose contributions and sacrifices helped shape our country. You'll find it here.

After a January that Viking/Penguin proclaimed the very first Snowy Day Month, we are excited to focus on Ezra's other books. While many of them will be familiar, we're sure that some will be wonderful discoveries. And don't miss the inaugural Keats Book Club, encompassing all the fun of the popular "If You Love The Snowy Day..." and more. Of course, we're continuing to enhance our website with new features, resources and games.

Next up, the deadline for Minigrant applications is March 15. We look forward to reading all the proposals, and rewarding as many as we can.

Sincerely,

Margot Abel

You've designed a great program. You've worked out the budget and lined up the supplies and people you'll need. What's next?

Tip: Now is the time to take a step back and give your program a last, objective look before the March 15 deadline. Is the project the same as the one you envisioned months ago? Maybe it's better, and you might consider expanding your stated aims...or maybe there's still something missing. Try not to second-guess yourself, but be thorough - it's worth it!
