Injunction against Executive Action

Even though Valentine's day is over, February represents the month of love. Unfortunately, Judge Hanen in Texas issued an injunction against President Obama's executive action to expand DACA and grant temporary status to parents of U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are undocumented. The justice department is appealing and we expect a ruling soon, so we will keep you updated. We hope the higher courts adopt the philosophy of love, welcoming and embracing the immigrants over hate and exclusion. Sign up for our blog to receive all the updates.

Love always get its way, sometimes it only takes a little help

Four years ago, Devery Rogers, a U.S. citizen born and raised, went to Monrovia, Liberia on a missionary trip with his church. The trip really opened Devery's eyes to the extreme poverty and living conditions in Liberia and how life there can be so very difficult.

The house where they were staying with the other missionaries had ground keepers and staff including house keepers, cooks and maids. These are locals who help the visitors in all the things they need on a daily basis. Devery used to be a chef in his previous career and loves to cook. One evening, he suggested cooking an American dinner for the staff as a gesture to thank them for their hard work helping the missionaries during their trip. They accepted and the dinner was organized for the following day. In the afternoon, two of the people took him to the local market to buy the ingredients to make an American dinner in an African kitchen. When he entered the kitchen, he was struck. It was love at first sight. From the very beginning there was a spark between him and Lovetta, one of the cooks he met that day. They became close friends immediately and maintained a long-distance relationship for some time. After some time had passed and the relationship grew, Devery proposed to Lovetta. With our help, Lovetta came to the U.S. in June 2012 with a fiance visa and just two weeks later they got married. Now they are a happy family, which now also includes a 2-year old beautiful little girl. Click here for pictures of the family.

Put love and passion in your everyday life

Prioritize love and passion in your life. You will get better results and enjoy yourself, your work and your friends and family a lot more if you do things with passion. Those are the things you just love to do.  Your daily life will significantly improve if you spend more time doing things that you are passionate about, both in your personal and professional life. If you are dreading going to work, think long and hard about what aspects are dragging you down and what is likely to lift you up. Getting up for work in the morning will be much more pleasant if you are headed to do something that you are passionate about.
