Welcome to the February 2015 Kids e-newsletter. Come and celebrate Chinese New Year at the library with books and activities for the whole family. Children's Art Festival is this month and means activities and special guests. This e-newsletter also has info about our family storytime, Chess Club and other free programs; there is something for everyone here at Richmond Public Library.

Come and check out the wonderful selection of Valentine's books at the library!
Get ideas for making your own Valentine's or read a story about Valentine's Day. All of the branches of the Richmond Public Library now have a selection of Valentine's books for you to choose from. 
Family Storytime
Join us for a story at one of our branches. Bring the family and enjoy as one of our librarians leads a dynamic story telling. With songs, rhymes, finger plays and more. These storytimes are fun for the whole family.

We have our Chinese New Year books on display at all of our branches. Come and celebrate the year of the sheep with Richmond Public Library with a fun puppet show and activities for the whole family.  
Brighouse - Feb. 28, 2015 - 4:00pm 
Aboriginal Artwork and Traditions

On display from Monday March 2 to Saturday March 7, 2015 at the Richmond Public Library, Brighouse branch, will be a variety of Aboriginal displays and presentations. Learn about First Nations history and culture. Come and enjoy these presentations during all opening hours at Brighouse branch.
Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 7pm to 8pm at the Brighouse Branch.
Come and drum with a traditional rawhide drum, learn gratitude songs in First Nations language, and perform a Circle dance.
All ages are welcome to this free drop in event.    
On the Launch Pad
Have you visited our Brighouse branch lately? You may have noticed that we have two 3D printers and some other new technology for our members to explore. Children are invited to choose an item and watch it print on the 3D printer. Please stop by the main branch today to discover all of the new technology offered at RPL.

E-Books for Kids
The Richmond Public Library is proud to offer e-books for kids. With a library card members have access to hundreds of e-books. If you are looking for a fun picture book check out Tumble Books. Maybe you want the newest junior chapter book; check out this link to help you view these on your computer or tablet.
Sing and Play
Join Richmond Family Place for this program for children 0 to 5 years of age along with their caregivers. You are sure to enjoy making new friends and learning songs and rhymes. Playtime is also included. This is a free drop in program.

The Accidental Highwayman

Here is the first in the Adventures of Kit Bristol series. This historical fiction takes readers to eighteenth century England.

Christopher "Kit" Bristol is servant to a notorious highwayman and one day upon his masters arrival home Kit is unknowingly brought into the world of highway robbery and magic. Kit's master is in peril and Kit ends up taking up his masters cause.
