Mitigating the impact for flood hit SMEs
There is little as catastrophic for a business as a natural disaster. According to the UK's Farming Minister we have suffered the wettest winter for 250 years, and even now parts of the UK are still suffering. 
 
Thankfully, the UK government has pledged support for SMEs affected by the floods, to the tune of a £10m fund available for costs related to the flooding, as well as deadline extensions for filing responsibilities. EFM has a full report on the help available: click here to find out more.

Budget round-up: Did you catch it?
 
Amidst a budget aimed primarily at savers and consumers, several measures were outlined with the purpose of reducing tax non-compliance. Amongst them, was HMRC being given powers to directly access the bank accounts of debtors: details are still incomplete, but read our thoughts here.
