Home Hospitality
There are several people coming into Tucson for Ron's celebration. To keep cost down we are asking congregants to open up their homes to accommodate these people. If you agree to do this you are offering a bed for one or two nights and one or two breakfasts. You are not required to provide transportation, just a warm and friendly welcome.
RSVP to Martha Castriotta if you are willing. Email: marthanay 156@gmail.com

The mid-month issue, which comes out on the fifteenth of each month, will be more discursive. Do you have a skill, talent or some knowledge that you can share with RE Students this summer????? If so, please consider signing up to be one of our guest facilitators. Introducing
Cholla Chowtime - Summer Season
The Interconnected Web of Dining Together
Cholla Chowtime provides an opportunity to get to know each other over a simple potluck dinner. There will be four dinners this summer on the second Saturday of each month: June 8, July 13, August 10, and September 14.
On three of these Saturdays you will be asked by the Host to bring an appetizer, salad, or dessert for eight.
On one of the Saturdays, you will host the dinner for eight and provide the entrée and beverages. The meal does not have to be elaborate. This is about getting to know each other, not fancy cooking.
Through the magic of math, each dinner will have different people at the table. As a result, your circle of acquaintances at MVUU will grow and by the end of September, you will know every participant. If you are new to MVUU, Cholla Chowtime will help you get to know others quickly.
The mathematical shuffling works best using two people as a pair. This is easy for married couples. If you are single, pair up with someone before you register. One can host and the other can prepare the entrée.
Registration starts now and closes midnight Sunday May 19. A minimum of 32 Regulars (16 pairs) is required for the shuffle to come out right. We need you!
Cholla Chowtime will need Substitutes too. Those who know they cannot attend all four dinners should register as Substitutes, who will very likely be asked to come to a dinner.
Register by e-mailing janerpaul47@gmail.com or by leaving a message at 572-2011. I'll be at the Time and Talent Table each Sunday to answer your questions. Once the enrollment period ends, all participants will receive detailed schedules and instructions.
Jane Paul
Commissioner, Cholla Chowtime

We will begin discussing the book on May 5. Please join us Sundays at 8:30 am in the small RE room. For more information contact John Clark at alvinjclark@aol.com.

Sunday Services for May
Liturgical Theme for May: DESIRE
May 5, 2013
"Desire"
Ron Phares
Desire is the great motivator. It also is a powerful agent of preservation. Yet, it is also incredibly destructive. Wait a minute! This sounds like Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. How are we to harness desire without being harnessed by it? Or are we to eliminate it altogether?
May 12, 2013
"The Mothers of Our Faith"
Ron Phares
It's mother's day! We will explore and celebrate some powerful women whose desire for justice, peace and truth mothered our Unitarian Universalist tradition.
May 19, 2013
"What Do Inmates Most Desire?"
The UU Gateway Fellowship
Members of the UU Gateway Fellowship at La Palma Correctional Center in Eloy will present some of their original works, read by Mountain Vista volunteers. This is a chance for members of our congregation to get to know this amazing group of men and what their lives and thoughts are like as participants in this prison fellowship.
May 26, 2013
"What a Preacher Wants"
Ron Phares
Ever wonder what your preacher wants for you or even from you? Well, here's a no holds barred tell-all about ministerial desire.
