Gods and Heroes Exhibit Opens Soon
The Alliance is pleased to promote the Portland Art Museum's summer exhibit of masterpieces from the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris. The Gods and Heroes exhibit, opening June 13, features works by Europe's most renowned artists since the seventeenth century and will include 140 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper dating from antiquity through the nineteenth century. The exhibition will focus on epic themes such as courage, sacrifice, and death. Buy tickets online and look for more news soon on French-language tours and workshops centered on the exhibit.
Portes Ouvertes on Thursday, June 11

Visit the Alliance open house (Portes Ouvertes) on Thursday, June 11, from 6:15 pm to 8:00 pm. The public is invited to meet with Alliance teachers, register for upcoming summer classes and workshops, and find out more about Alliance cultural programs. Visit with the special guest, singer Eric John Kaiser. The open house is the deadline for 10% off early bird registrations for summer term classes. Register online anytime or at the open house on June 11 to receive your discount. No need to reserve to attend the open house - just drop in. Questions? Email info@afportland.org.

Summer Enrollment Is in Full Swing
Enrollment is in progress for the summer term, including standard 10-week and 5-week classes for adults and children, as well as summer AfClass camps for children and concentrated immersion programs (week-long and weekends) for adults. Visit the website for all the options and call the office with questions at 503 223.8388. Remember, too, that private lessons are always available, whether as one-on-one lessons or in small groups. Finally, the "conversation à la carte" program is popular with folks at the intermediate level who'd like pure conversation practice with native-fluent Alliance staff.

Online Auction Draws Folks from 20 States
The spring French Flair auction drew the largest pool of bidders that we've ever had, in the eight years of running online auctions. Bidders from more than 20 states competed to win the unique items which included fine wine, a bottle of a rare Hardy Cognac, and the best French immersion programs in the world. The auction raised close to $13,000 for the nonprofit missions. Many thanks to all who participated by donating items or by bidding. One item that did not sell during the course of the auction was a week in the beautiful Languedoc home. If you missed that opportunity and would like to look into a possible late bid, email linda.witt@comcast.net.
