Auction Draws Folks from Across the U.S.
If you haven't yet logged into this week's online auction, there's still time. Bidders from both coasts of the U.S. are vying for the hot items, and there are still many bargains to be had. In addition to the 100 items in the online auction (which will sell to the highest online bidder as of this Thursday), there is also now a second auction of about 80 items, a sneak preview of the event that will take place on April 19 at the MAC. Note that most of the items in the Preview auction are also biddable online - the highest online bids in that auction will automatically be carried over to compete with the bidders at the MAC! Questions? Email lindaw@afportland.org. The online deadline for both auctions is this Thursday evening, April 17.
Catherine Deneuve's "On My Way"
Catherine Deneuve's new movie, "On My Way" (Elle s'en va) is showing at Regal Fox Tower and is enjoying good reviews. Deneuve, now 70, plays a widowed woman who runs a restaurant in Brittany and lives with her mother. After a failed relationship and difficulties with her business, she flees her situation by heading out on a road trip through the French countryside. The movie is in French with English subtitles. Click here for the detailed review that was in the Oregonian and click here to watch the trailer.
World's Top Immersion Program - Save Big!
The Alliance is pleased to partner with the world's leading French immersion program, l'Institut de Français on the French Riviera. Once each year we offer a two-week package for that program, for sale to the highest bidder (whether online, by email or at the event on April 19). Last year's winner snapped up the $2K value for half that, saving nearly $1000, and he's currently catching some rays on the Riviera, this very week! You can be lucky, too - click here to visit our online offer; submit your bid online or email info@afportland.org, no later than Thursday, April 17.  The winner will be notified April 19.
Summer Camps for Children

The Alliance will offer two weeklong, half-day French-language summer camps for children this summer. Class size is typically 5-9 sun2 students; low/medium intermediate to advanced levels of French are welcome. Children will explore French in fun and entertaining ways, through arts and crafts, song, dance, music, games, sports and more as age appropriate. With activities both in and outside the classroom, the camp will provide a balance of activities, relaxation and studies. Children may be divided into groups based on their ages. Visit the camp page for details.

French on the Willamette
Looking for an intensive immersion experience but can't get away to the Riviera? Then consider a local immersion program in Oregon. In the past the Alliance had annual summer programs for adults at the coast but this year the program will be closer to home (in fact, at the Kamm House in Portland) so that more people can participate. In addition, participants will have the choice of weekend-only (2-day) immersion programs and the traditional 5-day programs. Click here for the program description and pricing; contact Linda Fuchs, Alliance pedagogy manager (lindaf@afportland.org), to determine if your level is a good fit for this summer's programs.
