Travel and Resources Newly Revamped

Although the Alliance's main mission is education, we field a fair number of questions about travel. Check out the recommendations on the new, dedicated travel resources page (click herewhich lists select renBeard Apttal properties and/or companies of our own local members, most of whom offer 10% off to other members. In many cases, you can meet with the owners here locally for insider's knowledge of the area you are planning to visit. Events Draw Sell-Out Crowds

March events have drawn record crowds. Last Friday's Cultural Differences presentation drew 100; shown here is Pascale at F-APascale Theurier Beard, one of the panelists, after the presentation. Last Thursday's open house and Sunday's event with author Cara Black also drew record crowds. For a few photos from these events, click here and run the slideshow. Alliance Member Chooses Monte-Carlo

Longtime AllianceJoni2  members Eileen and David Threefoot share the news that their son Lucas, who trained with Oregon Ballet Theatre since age 4, and who is a soloist for OBT, will join Les Ballets de Monte Carlo this fall, after having been invited to join ballet companies in several major European cities. Lucas, who performed at the Alliance's Bastille Day a couple years ago, and who attended immersion schools here in Portland, says that his ability to speak French was useful during his discussions with Jean-Christophe Maillot, chorégraphe-directeur at Monte-Carlo since 1993. To catch Lucas in one of his final Portland-area performances, consider OBT's American Music Festival, from April 18-27 at the Newmark Theatre.
