Our team is growing!

Meet Dylan Hurwitz, our new Administrative Assistant

Dylan is currently in his final semester in the BFA program at Tufts/Museum School, and is in the process of finishing his Senior Thesis project. He works primarily as a painter/musician, but also produces animation and video work. At Tufts, he is studying and receiving a minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies.

Before joining the FPAC team, he worked at various local arts organizations, including Vose Galleries, the Anchor House of Artists, the Cambridge Arts Council, and Friends of Fenway Studios, in addition to working multiple artist assistantships. He is excited to bring his experience and enthusiasm for the arts in Boston to FPAC!

I <3 FORT POINT

2.7.13

Terrific turnout for our first annual I HEART FORT POINT event last month!

Thanks to FPAC member Elisa Hamilton for bringing her energy and creativity to create the event--and to the generous area businesses who served up tastes of their products: Barlows, Bee's Knees, Luckys, Sagarino's, Trillium Brewing, and Tavern Road.

The fill-in-the-blank labels still make us smile.

I HEART FORT POINT BECAUSE_____

About FPAC

The Fort Point Arts Community, Inc. of South Boston (FPAC) is a non-profit community organization founded in 1980 and run by neighborhood artists and volunteers. Our mission is to promote the work of our artists to a broad and diverse audience; to preserve the artists' community in Fort Point area; to maintain and expand access to affordable studio space; and to increase the visibility of the arts in Fort Point.

Fort Point artists generate art all year round, present two Open Studios events annually, advocate for the development and preservation of permanent studio space, organize art lending programs, run galleries and a store, create temporary public art, and actively participate in decisions that affect our neighborhood. We encourage new ideas, collaboration, connections, and economic growth.

Polymer Resin is the vehicle driving the construction and the illusion of deep space allowing images to be impregnated, floating between layers of resin and acrylic painterly ground. 346 Congress Street. DARK GARDEN:  An installation at Fuller Craft Museum
February 2 - April 28, 2013
Opening reception, Sunday, February 17, 2013, 1 - 5 pm
Fuller Craft Museum, 455 Oak Street, Brockton, MA
An installation of Linda Huey's newest ceramic sculpture, with over 40 dark and beautiful but unlikely plant forms, will transform an entire gallery into a somber, courtyard-type garden.  The five to nine-foot-tall plants have a suggestion of beauty and fragility, but with a closer look one can see in the clay fossilized trash and computer parts, flowers with graffiti, black fairies, decayed gnomes, broken antennas, leaves infested with cars. image above: detail of Dark Garden, Linda Huey/photo Stagg-Giuliano
