St. Paul Women on Bikes (WOB) wants your input

A new group, St. Paul Women on Bikes (WOB) is looking for input to help understand what gets women out on bikes, what keeps women from biking, and what WOB can do to get more women biking more often in St. Paul.

Complete their seven-minute survey to help guide their work as they "pedal forward." Survey respondents will be entered into a drawing for a $50 VISA gift card.

Smart Trips is helping launch the new grassroots group as their fiscal agent, helping provide guidance and expertise as the organization develops.

You can follow the St. Paul WOBblies on Facebook and Twitter.

CIB project proposals garner Smart Trips' support

Several proposals, including pedestrian and bicycling projects, are currently being considered for funding through the City's Long Range Capital Improvement Budget (CIB).

CIB funds are awarded every two years by the City to fund physical improvements to public land and buildings. Applications are reviewed by an 18-member CIB committee that recommends proposals to the Mayor.

Applications are typically submitted by City departments, district councils and neighborhood groups, but any group or individual can propose a project. The submission deadline for this funding cycle has passed, but think ahead to your neighborhood's needs and apply for funding in 2015. A description of the process and resources for interested applicants are on the City website

Take action to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety!
You can show support for projects you care about by attending the project review meeting of the CIB's Streets and Utilities Task force. View the schedule of project reviews (pages 3-5) in March and April.

St. Paul Smart Trips supports proposals that will improve safety and access for pedestrians and bicyclists in St. Paul, and has been asked to publicly support Snelling Avenue multimodal improvements, the Charles Avenue project, Highland Village Streetscape and the Marshall Avenue Complete Streets project.
Parking $mart expands to nine downtown ramps

ParkingSmart logo

We're expanding our subsidized carpool parking program for downtown St. Paul commuters, bringing the number of participating ramps to nine. We've recently added the Victory ramp, City Walk ramp, the Capitol Garage and three Union Depot ramps to the list of carpool parking options for commuters. Other participating ramps include the Jackson ramp, Smith Avenue Transit Center and the Capitol City Plaza.

The program covers half the cost for a carpool or vanpool monthly parking contract with a participating ramps through 2013. Start saving today!
