Remember Smart Trips on Give to the Max Day
GiveMN2012
Smart Trips is once again participating in Give to the Max Day, November 15th. Your gift that day will help us leverage $4 for every $1 you donate through GiveMN.

This year we're focusing our GiveMN campaign on our new Frogtown Neighborhoods program, which was launched with a kick-off event in September. (See the article below.)

We're pleased to report that all of our board members have pledged to give to the max this year. Join them to leverage support for our work helping those who live and work in St. Paul reduce car trips and bike, walk, bus and carpool more often.

Give to the Max Day is a huge online giving event benefiting Minnesota nonprofits via GiveMN.org.

Give to the Max for Smart Trips on November 15th!
Youth-led Frogtown outreach program launched

We've officially launched our next Neighborhoods program, and this one has a new approach. Our Frogtown program still has the goal of increasing biking, walking and transit use for local trips, but this program will be developed and implemented by Frogtown youth.

Frogtown kick-off event
Smart Trips intern Erin talks transportation at the Frogtown kick-off event.

We are working in close collaboration with the Science Museum's Kitty Anderson Youth Science Center (KAYSC) to train and manage a Sustainable Transportation Crew of 12 local youth to develop the program for their community.

Along with KAYSC, we've hired crew manager Tou SaiKo Lee, a former neighborhood resident and a frequent collaborator with the Frogtown Neighborhood Association.

Under Tou SaiKo's direction, the crew will begin developing a community outreach program to change attitudes and behaviors around sustainable transportation, identifying neighborhood barriers and potential solutions along the way.

We're excited about being a part of a youth-led effort that will positively impact the quality of life in Frogtown and improve individual and community health by promoting active, healthy transportation options.

St. Paul bike commuters ZAPPING through fall
ZAP ridecount
ZAP Twin Cities is going strong in St. Paul! We've got 145 enthusiastic participants, and even this late in fall we're getting more than 30 people zapping a day. The numbers below show the impact the program is making in St. Paul alone.

Above are St. Paul ZAP impact statistics through October 31, 2012

We want to keep growing the program, so tell your friends and colleagues about ZAP Twin Cities and follow ZAP on Facebook and Twitter.

We'll continue to tag bikes through the fall and winter, and hold a prize drawing each month for those who get zapped at least eight times.

Helping provide bike parking at Beer Dabbler HQ
Bike Rack at BeerDabbler
The Beer Dabbler headquarters took advantage of our bike parking subsidy program, installing the rack shown above for visitors to their store on West 7th Street in St. Paul.

Both Smart Trips and The City of Saint Paul have programs to subsidize bike racks at organizations within the City. Learn how we can help bring bike parking to your location by downloading our brochure or contact damian@smart-trips.org.
