EMS ISD hosts annual Holiday Open House 


This year's Holiday Open House was a huge success! More than 680 fine arts students performed and nearly 400 visitors from across our district and community stopped in to experience the holidays at Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. The EMS Holiday Open House is an annual tradition that's been celebrated for more than 30 years. 

This year our fine arts students performed in 30-minute increments. The performances began at 9:30 a.m. and concluded at 3 p.m. Performances included Wayside Middle School Advanced Boys Choir, Comanche Springs Singin' Spurs, Ed Wilkie Middle School Band, Wayside Middle School Advanced Girls Choir, Remington Point Elementary School Panther Chorale, Creekview Middle School Choir and Band, Chisholm Trail High School Choir, Gililland Elementary School Choir, Lake Pointe Choir, Saginaw High School Choir, Highland Middle School Choir, Wayside Middle School Show Choir, and Wayside Middle School Beginning Girls Choir.

The Hafley Development Center showcased more than 10 different countries at their annual "Holidays Around the World" event on Thursday, December 17. 

Nate Hanna, a senior offensive lineman for the Saginaw Rough Riders, has been selected to play in the 2015 Blue-Gray All American Bowl to be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Sunday, December 20.

The Board of Trustees approved attendance zones for EMS ISD's newest campus during the December Board meeting. In addition, Parkview Principal Beth Epps has been named as principal of Dozier ES. She will finish the school year at Parkview as the district prepares to open its newest campus in the fall. Click the headline to read more.

Chisholm Trail High School unveiled its new Innovation Lab at a ribbon cutting event on December 15. The iLab will offer high school students the unique opportunity to explore new and exciting career fields within the engineering industry such as robotics, 3D printing, and coding. EMS ISD received the TASBO Award of Merit for Purchasing and Operations with Recognized Status for the school district's commitment to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services. EMS will be recognized on Tuesday, March 1, at the TASBO 70th Annual Conference in Dallas.
 
Dr. Heather Hughes has been named as the next Director of Special Programs for Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. Her first day in EMS ISD will be January 19. Click the headline for the full story. 

BOS football player makes Academic All-State
Boswell High School senior Ben Seyfried has been named 1st team Academic All-State and is also a Commended National Merit Scholar. Please click the headline above for the full story.

Saginaw High School senior receives First Team Defensive All-State
SHS senior Frank Honang was named Class 5A First Team Defensive All-State by the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors for his performance in this season's football games.

LPE students receive Honorable Mention in national math contest
Fifth-grade students from Lake Pointe Elementary recently competed in the Noetic Learning Math Contest. They finished in the top 50 percent out of more than 21,000 student competitors nationwide, earning them the Honorable Mention distinction. 

Saginaw High School's girls' and boys' gymnastics teams traveled to Abilene on December 4 to compete in the Key City Invitational. The boys' team finished first overall and the girls finished fourth at the meet. Please click on the headline above to learn more about individual and team results.
