Greetings!

You may have noticed that we have many fresh faces at the cafe. I am really excited about this team, they are hard workers with great senses of fun. While I am always sad to say farewell to staff members, I am also happy to see them each flourish in the world and go after their wishes and desires.
Next Tuesday, April 5, we will bid our dear Chelsea adieu. We will miss her SO MUCH, she has been a fantastic baker and everybody loves her. As she moves on to this new chapter in her life we wish her all the best things she can't even imagine, and of course hope to see her around now and then.
Congratulations to Anna, she has been with us a year and has been elevated to our new team leader! We are super excited to see what happens next.
Harlee has been with us for about 4 months now and is blossoming up front, along with Jasmine (2 months) and Haley (1.5 months). Of course we still love seeing Ivy on Saturdays, though she will have her third beautiful baby in June so we figure she will be done for awhile as of the middle of May.
We are also graced by Vicky on Fridays, though she, like Ivy, is going to school full time and raising a family, so her schedule is a bit sporadic. We are so lucky that we get to see them when we do! Vic has been with us since August of 2009 and Ivy started here the first time in June of 2007!
Elise went to the shipyard (another sad face for us, but happy face for her!) so Melody is my newest "souper star", as she is rockin' the soups, salads, prep and more in the kitchen.
Kai and Mark will be training our newest baker, Taylor, as of next week, and we are going to be hiring one more person up front though we don't know who that might be, yet.
Betuel is still in the kitchen, having been with us since day one, and we hate to think that some day we will have to do this without him, even as we want him to be able to enjoy his life any way he wants to. That time is not here yet, so we are grateful for every moment we have together!
We have a uniquely rich and delicious history of long-time employees, and everyone who has worked with us is family. I know we are exceedingly lucky to cross paths with these fabulous people, no matter how long they work with us. I always say that our team are as much our customers as anyone is, and it is always my goal to make them feel that love. I succeed, and fail, at that all the time, and I am so lucky that they appreciate, and forgive, as necessary.
I hope that you feel how much we love our team, that it translates to your great time at Monica's, because it is pretty much the love that we have for them, and for you, that makes our food so good!

MEET ME AT THE MARKET!
It's farmer's market season! Whenever I can get to a market I will let you know when and where I am through Twitter, which will also post on our web site, and on our Facebook page. I call this "Meet Me At The Market!" and the first person to find me at any market will win a prize! Anyone who finds me is welcome to join me for a tour of the market to meet our local farmers and food producers, as well as other vendors. It's always fun and we can talk about what to do with the food you purchase there.
If you would like to know when all the markets in the area are you can find out on our web site HERE. I hope to see you at the local markets, most of them accept debit, credit and EBT cards, as well as SNAP and WIC vouchers. Check out the market booths to see if they have other perks like the frequent flyer punch card at Poulsbo. And if you ever run across something that you are curious about and have no idea how to prepare, ask the farmer! If all else fails you can always drop me and email or stop by the cafe and ask, I will help in any way I can. ***************************
Happy Birthday Kailia! Monday April 18th is our baker Kai's birthday and while she has the day off you can join us in celebrating her on Tuesday, or really any day, because she is that special! Happy Birthday Kai, we love you!

The library has tons of great ideas for community-centric fun and/or education at no cost! You ca
n get your 1040 tax forms, take fun classes such as 'Political Cartooning', 'Make Your Own Miniature Book', and so much more!
Rodger from the library leads a walking club on Tuesdays, from 10-11 and all you have to do is grab your walking shoes and a water bottle. He keeps it accessible so if you have needs that are different from walking shoes you are very welcome to join in! This is a family friendly and fun urban walk and you can drop in any time you want.
To learn more you can check out their web site and if you want to get an update on the campaign to build a new nature-smart library they have an event for that, too!
Join library lovers and local artists at Lisa Stirrett's Glass Art Studio on Wednesday April 6. It's an open house from 5:30-8 pm, hosted by Silverdale Green Drinks, and they ask for an RSVP.

Dust off those clubs, practice your swing and register today for the Fourth Annual Fore! the Animals Golf Tournament!
Check-in begins at 9:00 am with an 11:00 am shot-gun start. Tournament format: four-person scramble.
Tournament will include prizes for the man and woman who come closest to the pin and have the longest drive.
Bruce Titus will also be on the course with a car you could win by hitting a hole in one!
First, second and third place prizes will be awarded to the winning foursomes!
Fore! the Animals" Golf Tournament is crucial in raising the funds needed for Kitsap Humane Society to continue their mission in rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing animals in our community. Not a golfer? Kitsap Humane Society accepts donations of money, service, and goods any time! Plus they are always looking for volunteers and foster homes so there are opportunities for everyone.
After all, everybody needs a little help now and then...
