Greetings!
"The Spring came suddenly, bursting upon the world as a child bursts into a room, with a laugh, and a shout, and hands full of flowers."
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Our happiness influences the people we know and the people they know.
March certainly has come in like a lion, observing the herd stealthily and then ROAR! This weekend the lion attacked! So now we can all rest assured that it will go out like a lamb, soft and fuzzy, bleating and bouncing happily in the sun.
Sunday March 20th is the vernal equinox, the first official day of Spring follows. A time when many of us embrace renewal and a freshening up, and we feel lighter as we shed our Winter clothes, doldrums and colds. What will you do to celebrate the new season?
So many of our loved ones are having a very difficult time, with issues of all kinds ranging from health, to financial, to relationships, and everything else. If you are struggling and/or feeling alone, or lonely, I hope you can find the strength to ask for help, and then I really hope you find the strength to receive it. That is often the harder part.
There are times when we all need help, and times when we can all give help, even if it is as simple as a kind smile to someone, who may be having a difficult day. We don't need to know each other's stories to show a little compassion and remember that we're all on this rock together... it costs nothing to be kind and supportive (in fact it pays to be so), and it can cost everything to with-hold those things. No matter how separated from the herd we may feel, there truly are others out there with similar experiences. We are not alone and we don't have to be lonely.
This year the first day of Spring also happens to fall on the first annual International Day of Happiness! Join the movement here: http://www.dayofhappiness.net/#join or Check out the action guide and other great information at their website: http://www.actionforhappiness.org/
Where you can learn great tidbits such as: Happiness is contagious! Research shows that the happiness of a close contact increases your chance of being happy by 15%! Happy people live longer and are healthier than people who do not feel happy. It's not a miracle pill, nothing is, but it's a great place to explore no matter where you are on the path. I hope you help spread some happy this month!
We can't wait to see you here!

"I will not play tug o' war. I'd rather play hug o' war. Where everyone hugs instead of tugs, Where everyone giggles and rolls on the rug, Where everyone kisses, and everyone grins, and everyone cuddles, and everyone wins."
~Shel Silverstein

What's Happening?
Hot Stuff!!
Happy St Patrick's Day!
Mark will be busy decorating Shortbread Shamrock Cookies, he and Kai will bake Irish Soda Bread all week, and Melody is making Colcannon Soup*, Irish Pub Salad and Shepherd's Pie on the 17th. We love mixing it up to delight your senses and we know we can make it an extra delicious March 17th for you!
*I tasted colcannon, a traditional dish of mashed potatoes and cabbage, at an Irish restaurant several years ago. It was delicious and served with sausages, so I created a soup to commemorate that wonderful dish. I truly believe that almost anything delicious can be translated into a soup.

You may be thinking:
"How can I help?"
Here is one small way:

The Clear Creek Trail is one of our area's most valuable resources. March, as it has for the last 30 years, brings in Salmon in the Classroom. This year they need your help with the Native Plant station, as many of their regular volunteers
are unable to participate this year. If you're handy with a trowel, pot of dirt and a bare root plant, please consider showing one of around 800 elementary students how to do it!
Check out the calendar and other volunteer opportunities, such as trail maintenance, and let them know what dates and times work well for you. You will become their new best friend!
Email the Clear Creek Task Force for more information:
After all, everybody needs a little help now and then...
