August 2015

Do you have life goals? How do you plan and work towards them? I have been working with a fabulous coach (shout out to Shannon Bruce!) and the process has helped me realize that I don't have concrete life goals.

I have dreams and ideas, things I live for and things I wish to do, but those are not goals, nor have I ever felt a real sense of urgency around any of that. The mantra of another mentor of mine is "the reason your business exists is to help you attain your life goals". I believe this is true, and yet only now am I really focusing on what I want that to mean.

Of course getting back to financial stability and permanence, are important to me. I would love to read more, learn more, see and do more than I have, and there are even some specific places I hope to go some day. Yet, none of these things feels like a goal, it all feels more like a lifestyle... I am open to whatever experiences I can get.

I think that is ok! I want to live a life of loving connection with the collective soul, so the quote by Joseph Campbell above feels like the best life goal for me. Mainly because that goal IS a lifestyle. Everything I do, think and feel is helping me grow in that direction, including the multitude of mis-steps that I make every day.
So if the purpose of my business is to help me get there, it is definitely a worthwhile endeavor.

I am enamored with the idea of life goals and I would love to hear from you and learn about your own life goals, and what steps you take towards making them happen. Send me an email or stop in and have a chat.

PS: You may have noticed that I have been pushing the newsletter back a bit each month. I may, or may not, go back to the first of the month, though either way don't worry, you still get your birthday meal. The rules are still the same: just bring in the first page of the most recent newsletter (with your email address on it), or show us on your phone, and we will celebrate with you by treating you to an excellent meal! Whether you are lucky enough to have an August birthday, or not, I hope you have a delicious month!

We can't wait to see you here!

6) Have fun!

You may be thinking "How can I help?"
Here is one small way:

It's back to school time and right here in Kitsap County there are nearly 600 homeless kids, Plus thousands of low-income, foster, and other children in need, who could really use some help getting supplies.

Bring your donations to Monica's we will make sure they get to our children in need. You may have items in your closet, or could go to the dollar store and pick a few things up... Backpacks are the hot ticket item! Every child deserves a decent bag or pack to carry their books in. Paper, pens and pencils, erasers, water based markers, pencil sharpeners, scissors, glue, glue sticks, rulers, calculators, folders, notebooks, binders, tape, construction paper, index cards, crayons, highlighters, back packs, shoes, socks, underwear, coats, scarves, gloves, lunch boxes, water bottles, and all clothing... and anything else you can think of, including shelf-stable snacks and food items.

Every little thing helps our children in need start their first day of school with the same pride and excitement as all the other kids. They don't deserve anything less, and too often feel embarrassed because they don't have the equipment they need.

Please bring these items in sooner than later, though we will NEVER turn donations away no matter when they come in; someone can always use it! If you bring your donations in during my birthday party we'll give you up to 100 points on your rewards card, depending on the donation; the more you donate the more points you will receive!

After all, everybody needs a little help now and then...
