This is an unusual month, blue moons don't happen very often; thus the phrase 'once in a blue moon'.
In honor of unusual occurrences we are going to try something very new for us this year: For Whaling Days we are going to have a beer & wine garden in the parking lot! You can read more about that below... it's a big deal for us and we are excited!
I have been LOVING watching the US Women's National Soccer Team go all the way to the finals in the World Cup! These women are fantastic to watch, in their prime of fitness, graceful and talented. It is inspiring to see them following their dreams and on Sunday they will fight to be number one in the world! I am super excited to watch and root them on, if you are going to any viewing parties please let me know, I just might show up and scream with you.

Whaling Days Beer & Wine Garden!
Saturday July 25
We will have some local craft beers on tap, refreshing wine available by the glass, and we will also offer water and sodas for the non-drinkers. Of course we will have cookies on hand, and we are also going to make "Spiedies". The word 'spiedino' means skewer in Italian and on the East Coast (especially South New York) they serve 'Spiedies', which is marinated meat on a skewer, slipped onto a bread roll. We will offer chicken, pork and vegetables as the sandwiches and as skewers, as well as some other snacks and, of course, $1 COOKIES!
We invited Matt Carter from Carter's Chocolates to sell his delicious ice cream as well, and you know our food will be the best at the festival, so even if you don't normally 'do' Whaling Days, come on down and we will feed you well. Saturday only though, we're taking Sunday off to recover from what we hope is a very busy day in the sun. I'll put an event on Facebook and we would really love it if you share it out there so we can get the word out!

I get to as many farmer's markets as I can, though it can be challenging for me to get there! Whenever I go, I put the information out there for which market I will attend and the time I will arrive, via Twitter, Facebook and our web site home page.
I call it 'MEET ME AT THE MARKET', and, if you are the first one to find me, you win a prize! Everyone who finds me will get to meet some of the farmers we work with, learn about the produce around us, get recipes and uses for what you buy, & have some great fun at a farmer's market!

What if you could join our community in a fun event, help raise funds for Hospice of Kitsap County, AND do something good for yourself, would be IN?
Saturday, July 25, 2015, the "Whale of a Run" will raise funds for Hospice. Choose the 4 mile race, 1 mile walk/run, or one of the kids dashes. Stay afterwards to enjoy a day of family fun at all of the Whaling Days festivities!
