Greetings!
Happy June! We are being spoiled with extra nice weather these days, which I know is nice for all the graduation celebrations, weddings, showers, and other parties that you are throwing this month.
It is the best part of my job that we get to be involved in feeding so many people for every life event you can think of! When we started this business venture I said that I wanted a heart-based business. I could not have imagined what those words truly meant, and I feel so lucky to be able to live within that goal, every day.
We have been a part of your celebrations from first dates, to baby showers, birthdays, graduations, goals accomplished, bridal showers, weddings, anniversaries, new jobs, retirement, new homes, new cars, holidays, and so many milestones.
We have also been honored to nourish you during divorce signings, memorial services, farewell parties, illnesses, injuries, and while you take care of those you love.
June is the month when I am most often reminded of just how many special life and death moments we have been a part of, and I am so grateful.
Grateful to all of you who share those moments with us. Sometimes we bring the food to your events, other times you come here in pairs or groups, and we thank you. Even (and perhaps especially) when you come in for a little 'you' time on your own to just sit quietly and enjoy some great food, thank you for letting us be your place of choice.
You are the reason we are here and we thank you for inviting us in, coming to us, and letting us feed you during the celebrations and commemorations of your lives!

We love our dads and we love helping you show your love to yours, so we have a deal for you. Pre-order a cinnamon loaf to be picked up on Saturday June 20 (it makes the BEST French toast, and it's also delicious on it's own) AND get a complimentary Bear Claw for dad!
If there's a dad out there who doesn't love our bear claws, we haven't met him, yet!

Monthly Fun at Monica's:
ON THE THIRD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH
MONICA'S IS HAVING A COMMUNITY PARTY FOR YOU!
Where other communities have an art walk, we want to offer a different kind of event that is for YOU to have FUN, feel NOURISHED in many ways, and maybe even learn something if you want to!
Variety is the spice of life, so each party will be different.
It may feature local art and/or artists, local books and/or authors, local food, cooking, music, wine, beer, games,
profile community members, other businesses, or anything else that strikes our fancy!
These events are a way for us to say 'Thanks!' to you for choosing to spend your time, money and energy with us.
We will give some things away, offer perks that we think you'll enjoy, and even try some new recipes for you to test.
We'll even trade you a cookie for your donations of non-perishable food, toiletries, clothing, household items etc...
and make sure those donations get to the food bank and local homeless outreach programs.
So stop in on the Third Thursday and see what we've got cooking!
We are going old school this month and hosting a wine and beer social for you! Purchase a $5 wine tasting flight, or a glass of wine, or a beer, and enjoy complimentary (so EXTRA delicious) appetizers and sweet treats, as well as some lovely, locally produced art.
Monica always has an interesting lineup of wines and of course the company will be excellent. Enjoy a quiet happy hour together with an old friend, or sit at the communal tables and get to know some new friends.
Either way it will be great fun!
Donations collected will go to Kitsap Rescue Mission and they are in serious need of backpacks (new or gently used), camping gear, and money for a new roof. Check out the "How Can I Help" section below for further contact information.

Calling all boaters, naturalists, community members and friends of the trail! Join us this year to paddle and play at our National Water Trail celebration. In June 2014, the Kitsap Peninsula Water Trails was designated a national water trail by the National Park Service. This prestigious designation is only one of a handful in the US. Our 371 mile trail encompasses all of the Kitsap Peninsula and is one of the most spectacular paddling destination in the world.
This years festival activities:
*Ride the Tide - a 5 mile paddle from Evergreen Park in Bremerton to the Silverdale waterfront park. Appropriate for paddlers with previous experience.
*Official Kitsap county ceremony recognizing our National designation.
*Adult and youth kayak and paddle-board Introduction and Demonstration
This fun event is held in old town Silverdale at the Silverdale Waterfront Park and is great for the whole community, with vendors, displays, and of course Monica's is across the street!
The optional paddle starts at Evergreen Park in Bremerton, with stops along the way at Water Trail sites. At each stop paddlers pick up a raffle ticket for a chance at great prizes. There will be a shuttle available to take you back to Evergreen Park.

You may be thinking "How can I help?"
Here is one small way:
Join our community on June 13 for Kitsap Rescue Mission's annual "Heart for the Homeless" 5k Fun Run/Walk at Evergreen Park in Bremerton.
Registration will open at 8:15 AM,
Walkers will start at 8:45, and Runners take the course at 9.
The course takes participants across both the Warren Ave and Manette Bridges. This event is intended for all ages and fitness levels. Groups of 3 or more get a discounted rate!
Pre-registration is $20, race day registration is $25 pp; t-shirts will be available for sale while they last. Please plan to join us for a day of fitness and fun!
After all, everybody needs a little help now and then...
