Greetings!
The frogs and I loved the rain we got these past few days as much as we love the warm sun. I've opened up the house a few times already to welcome in the fresh, albeit chilly, air. If it's sunny and 55 or over I have been known to open up the doors and windows to air out the house. I love it!
It's time for planting seeds, pruning bushes, planning garden beds and making way for growth. Along those lines one of the things we are going to try from now on is a Third Thursday community event at Monica's.
Each month we will host something fun for our community and we are hoping that other Old Town businesses will join in with us. We will be moving forward no matter what and you can read below about the first event, which happens this week. They will all be a little different, sometimes an artist reception, maybe a trivia night, wine tasting, beer tasting, cooking demos, discussion forums, and we are cooking up other great ideas to partner with the library, our neighboring businesses and the Port to create great and fun things for you to experience. Let me know what you have been craving in this community and maybe we can make it happen. As always,

Rebecca Parker-Artist Reception
Open House: Thursday March 19, 5-8 pm
We are honored to present multi-media artist Rebecca Parker, of Juicy Fabric for a solo show this Thursday. Enjoy the beautiful water colors and other wall art, as well as silk design and wearable textiles, that she has been creating for 28 years.
10% of all sales will go to benefit Coffee Oasis and Rebecca is going to offer a drawing to win a piece of her art. All the drawing proceeds will also benefit Coffee Oasis.
She is offering delicious sweets (baked by us, of course!) for you to enjoy, while we will offer complimentary wine tasting, coffee, and if you bring us a donation for the teen shelter we will give you a cookie! They need all things from toiletries and food to bus passes, phone cards, clothing, bedding and anything else you can think of. Spring clean and donate!
It promises to be a very fun evening!

Happy St Patrick's Day!
Mark has been busy decorating Shortbread Shamrock Cookies, he and Chelsea will bake Irish Soda Bread and I am making Colcannon Soup*, Irish Pub Salad and Shepherd's Pie. We love mixing it up to delight your senses and we know we can make it an extra delicious March 17th for you!
*I tasted colcannon, a traditional dish of mashed potatoes and cabbage, at an Irish restaurant several years ago. It was delicious and served with sausages, so I created a soup to commemorate that wonderful dish. I truly believe that almost anything delicious can be translated into a soup.

A super fun way to relax and uncork your creativity! Enjoy some fabulous wines and light appetizers while you create a painting with a step-by-step method from Kitsap Art. Includes all art supplies, light appetizers and first glass of wine. Additional wine and non-alcoholic beverages are available.
Canvas & Cupcakes
Sunday March 29, 2 pm
Create a masterpiece, deliciously! Adults and children are all invited to enjoy a fun afternoon creating a step-by-step painting while savoring delicious cupcakes provided by Monica's Waterfront Bakery and Cafe, of course!
All of these art events are Catered by Monica's Waterfront Bakery & Cafe.

Here is one small way:
First Thursday Art Walk
Thursday April 2, from 5-9 pm
They always partner with a different charity so that this fun community event can give back to those in need. Each Art Walk has a kid-friendly glass project class, numerous talented artists, snacks, spirits, shopping, and fun!
On April 2nd they are partnering with a favorite non-profit of ours THE LIBRARY! Spotlighting our local Library, Authors, and Artists, as well as some delicious local treats. We love the library and hope you will come out to support them. We don't know anyone without a library story, and this would be a great time to share yours. I know I would love to hear it!
If you haven't been to Lisa's gorgeous studio on Silverdale Way you are in for a sensory delight! And if you have been you know how wonderful it is and it is always worth another look.
Lisa and her crew are generous of spirit, community-minded, and full of world-class talent. If you can't make it to the art walk you can stop by any time to enjoy their lovely work, but we highly recommend their art event for a super fun evening.
