Greetings!
"The core of true success is love. That includes loving yourself enough to take care of yourself."
Zig Ziglar
For many people January is the month of hibernation and hunkering down. We dabbled (or dove) in many forms of excess from Thanksgiving on, the days are still darker and shorter, and we feel like we have to be 'good', at least for awhile. Of course, 'good' is relative, and really I think we are all just getting refocused. My wish for all of you is that you are able to do this in love. Love for yourself, because who better to love you?
If your best friend was tired, broke, and even down on her (or him) self and needing renewal, you would not beat her up emotionally, or punish her for not taking the most excellent care of herself in December. You would encourage, support, and love her in spite of (or perhaps because of) her fallible humanity. Don't you deserve that loving attitude as well? I think you do!
Everything we do, every choice we make, every path we cross or follow, brings us to exactly where (and who) we are, at any given moment. We can celebrate the fun stuff, that's easy! When we give thanks for our shortcomings, our trials and our challenges, even when we don't overcome them the way we think we should, THAT is the harder stuff. That is the stuff that will send us to the next level of our personal growth.
I think most of us know all of that to some degree, and I also think we look past it, if not outright forget about it, when it comes to our selves. So whether you are hibernating, or not, treat your self as you treat those you love. You deserve it! PLUS it will help you achieve your goals and resolutions!
After all, we love you, and we take that seriously.
We can't wait to see you here!
~Monica

What's Happening?
Hot Stuff!!
In this class we will learn techniques for cooking chicken and how to make 6 chicken dinners that can each be made in about 30 minutes!
Chicken is always a winner in our book. It is the most versatile, satisfying, and accommodating protein out there and yet far too often we find ourselves stopping for fast food or falling into the old rut of what we always make. Well, let's shake up that routine, shall we? From a quick yet comforting bowl of polenta, garlicky spinach and chicken sausage, to lemon-thyme chicken thighs.
Monica makes the BEST roasted chicken around and she will teach you how to do it, too! It is good enough for company and easy enough for a weeknight dinner, whether you are dining alone or with someone else you love. Together we will prepare several dishes and dine family style, and there will be a delightful bit of wine and local beer, as well. We will learn together, enjoy candle light, a fabulous meal, fun conversation and a lovely evening in general. After the meal you will get to take home copies of all the recipes (with a few bonus recipes) and techniques, and probably some left-overs, too. You will be a more confident cook and have a few delicious tricks up your sleeve, knowing that you can feed yourself and your loved ones easily and deliciously, all for just $65 per person. This class for anyone of any cooking (or non-cooking) background, from mature kids to kids-at-heart. No need for fancy attire, just relax and enjoy! We promise that this is a safe, fun learning environment that will help you create or hone your skills with no pressure!
We are limiting these pre-paid reservations to 12 guests, and they sell out very quickly. When it fills up we will make a waiting list and offer another class and dinner to those on the list.

IT'S DOUBLE POINTS JANUARY!
Normally you earn one point for every dollar you spend, but not this month. January visits earn you 2 points for every dollar you spend, catapulting you to free meals twice as fast! In case you forgot, or are new to our loyalty rewards program, it works like this: You buy delicious food and beverages from us and we swipe your points card so you get the points value for what you spent. Then you get to come in and spend those points on free meals! Everyone uses them differently, some folks like to get a free coffee in the morning while others save up to treat their family to meals. It's a little way that we can say thank you: however you like it is how you get to use it, because we are so very grateful that you choose to spend your time and money with us!
25 points = a free coffee drink or cookie
50 points = a free sweet of any kind
75 points = a sweet and a drink
100 points = a free meal (entree, beverage, dessert)
and 150 points = 2 free meals!
How cool is that? It's the most generous rewards program around!

You may be thinking "How can I help?"
Here is one small way:
Maybe you picked up some new stuff over the past few months, or you realize that you no longer need/fit/like or want some of your old clothes, bedding, camping gear, school supplies, or other household items.
Feel free to drop it all by Monica's, any time! You get to make room for all that great new stuff and we will ensure that your gently used (or new), clean, discarded items get to those who need it most. Baby, it's cold out there and we have neighbors who need warm bedding, batteries for flashlights to do homework by, camping equipment to help survive day to day, and even gift cards that you will ever use could be put to great use by someone else.
While we always accept donations of non-perishable food items for the food bank and meal sites, the rest of the items are even more difficult to come by. Sleeping bags, tents, cooking equipment, toilet paper, hygiene products, baby wipes, diapers, pet food, backpacks, warm socks, coats, clean underwear, sample sizes of laundry and dish soap, hand sanitizer, toothpaste and brushes, prepaid gas cards, prepaid phone cards, hair brushes, hair bobs for young girls, and every other thing you can think of, would be a welcome addition to many people's lives. Just think of all the good we can do together!
After all, everybody needs a little help now and then...
