Greetings!
"Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present."
Bil Keane
I find this quote to be especially fitting during the holiday season, when so many people are focused more on presents than they are on presence. I would like to encourage all of us to take a few moments each day to breathe in whatever is happening right then. To be as completely present in whatever moment you choose, even if only briefly. It will help us to alleviate and reduce stress, stay healthier, think more clearly, express ourselves more honestly, and enjoy those moments more fully.
Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Solstice, Christmas, New Year's, birthdays, anniversaries, or the simplicity of each day, this time of year can be overwhelming for many reasons. Give the gift of presence to your self, and the experience of your presence will be the best present you will have to offer those you love in the world.
We want to thank you and our team for being a very special part of our holiday traditions and allowing us to be even a small part of yours. It really does mean the world to us!
We can't wait to see you here!
~Monica

"I will not play tug o' war. I'd rather play hug o' war. Where everyone hugs instead of tugs, Where everyone giggles and rolls on the rug, Where everyone kisses, and everyone grins, and everyone cuddles, and everyone wins."

What's Happening?
Hot Stuff!!
Monica's Waterfront Bakery & Cafe Becomes a Pizzeria on
Saturday November 29, 4-8 pm.
Back by popular demand for just one night
We will turn into Monica's Pizzeria!
Take a delicious break from Thanksgiving left-overs and shopping madness on Saturday November 29th:
Come down to Monica's for a fabulous meal!
Don't be surprised when you arrive and find that we are a pizzeria offering our hand-tossed pizzas. They are SO delicious!
The annual Silverdale Tree Lighting Festival is that day, too, so you can end your fabulous day of family fun right here, with the best pizza in town!
So what's our pizza like? I'm glad you asked! We will offer a set menu of Italian style pizzas: Thin crust with a nice chew to it and premium toppings. Mark and I learned to make pizza in Italy and we have appreciated it in New York and a few places in Seattle. We want to see great pizza in Kitsap, even if it's for just one night! We have taught many happy customers in our pizza making classes and now, for one night only, we will serve it to you!
We will also offer our famous Dungeness Crab Mac n Cheese, a couple of salads, sodas, wine and beer, as well as a few delicious desserts!

Can't seem to find time or privacy to get your holiday gifts wrapped? Lighten your load and lighten your mood at Monica's...
On Tuesday December 23rd from 8 am to 5 pm
we will have a table set upstairs to help you along. Come on in and wrap your heart out, away from prying eyes, at our '
do it yourself' wrapping station!
We will have a small selection of paper, tape, scissors, ribbon and tags for you to use, though if you want to bring in your own special items you certainly may! Perhaps you have some left-over paper that you no longer wish to use, you can toss it on the table for someone else. Once you're done we will do the clean up and you get to move on to your next errand.
You chose special gifts for the special people in your life, why not take a little quiet time to wrap them up with love? Be it Hannukah, Christmas or hostess gifts, your wrapping can get done in peace!
PLUS!
On that same day: We all love our holiday clothing, no matter how silly it may be.
Wear your favorite tacky holiday sweater
(or any item of tacky holiday clothing) and we'll post your picture on our Facebook page. We will have a vote and the most popular article of clothing will win!
If you win you will receive a $25 Monica's gift card to give, or use, any time you like!

You may be thinking "How can I help?"
Here is one small way:
December 11, 5 pm-9 pm
Join Lisa Stirrett at her Glass Art Studio for her annual Christmas Party! This event will benefit the Kitsap YWCA A.L.I.V.E. Shelter and it is a huge party every year. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for one of the kids, or any donation for the shelter, including women's clothing items, toiletries, bedding, phone cards, gift cards, diapers, and anything else you can think of that any woman or child may need.
Lisa embodies the spirit of love that this season intends and we want to encourage everyone in supporting her, the YWCA, and our neighbors in need.
YWCA ALIVE (Alternatives to Living In a Violent Environment) SHELTER PROGRAM provides temporary-emergency housing for women and children affected by domestic violence. Residents receive advocacy-based counseling, children's activities, housing and employment advocacy, support groups, food, clothing, Community-based support groups, and transportation. Confidentially located. For additional information, contact: (360) 479-1980 or the Toll-Free Crisis Line at (800) 500-5513.
After all, everybody needs a little help now and then...
