It's finally here! Many of you know that Autumn is my favorite season and this one is a beauty, so far! Mark harvested the last of his garden on Sunday and we enjoyed a fresh and delicious end-of-Summer meal, grilled local meat, and quaffed a fabulous wine blend by Dunham Cellars. We are so lucky to live in this beautiful place!
This Wednesday there is a 'blood moon', where a total eclipse of the moon makes it appear red. It is supposed to begin around 3:25 am (our time) and be visible that way for about an hour. It's the second and final lunar eclipse this year, and there will also be 2 next year, and then no more for 100 years!
It is so rare to have 4 in a row that there is a prophecy around it being the beginning of the end of times. I love the moon as much as I love autumn, so if I go out while gazing at the moon, so be it.

There is much going on this month and what with the holidays getting ever nearer it is extra important to take a moment here and there for your self. Take a breath and enjoy whatever moment you are in and remember that none of it means a thing if we aren't happy and having a great time. The journey IS the destination!

WE ARE HIRING!
...seeking a PERMANENT, FULL TIME team member for the front of the house. The right person enjoys working in an energetic, fun atmosphere where the effort and creativity they put forward translates to the success of the business. Training is 'on the job' and very fast-paced, so you must be able to speak up, ask questions and have a strong sense of self-care.
This is a hands-on position which will work with the front of the house as well as the back of house. Duties are varied and include: all aspects of customer care-in person/on the phone/online; preparing food; handling money; using a POS; food running; washing dishes; and behind the scenes facilitating.
You must be reliable, flexible and able to follow directions; able to organize and accomplish multiple tasks; able to stand and walk at a fast pace for long periods of time, including going up and down stairs, and lift, bend and stoop. Must be able to frequently lift and carry tubs, trays and other objects weighing 25 lbs or more. You must be at least 18. Previous experience a plus but not required.
Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding and passion for the hospitality trade. Knowledge of food, beer and wine is desirable, not required. You must have good basic arithmetic skills, be organized, tidy and work well under pressure. Position requires flexible hours and daily shift availability. Please be mature minded, bright, enthusiastic and friendly with a sense of style and a strong work ethic.
This is an extremely important position at our restaurant and carries with it opportunity for advancement. You must be attuned to our mission at all times: "To nourish our community through engaged relationships, one customer at a time. The position starts at minimum wage, plus tips.

We get to celebrate all things Mark this month!
His birthday is Sunday the 26th, so no big party at the cafe this year, because on the 25th we are cooking the Harvest meal (see info below). But if you get a chance to wish him happy birthday I know he would love to hear from you!

Uncork your creativity! Enjoy some fabulous wines and light appetizers while you create a painting with a step-by-step method from Kitsap Art. Includes all art supplies, step by step instruction, light appetizers and first glass of wine. Additional wine is available!

A super fun way to relax and tap into your creativity! Enjoy a delicious regional beer with light appetizers while you create a painting. You will follow a step-by-step method from Kitsap Art.
