It's August and that means it's my birthday month!
I love Fall the best of all seasons. I have always considered my birthday time of year as the gloaming of Summer... or perhaps it's the pre-dawn of Autumn. Either way, I love it!
Last month we entered Kitsap Bank's Edg3 Fund contest and we made it to the semi-finals!
As is everything we do, this, too, is all up to you. We really hope you vote, especially if it's for us, and even if it isn't. There are some really great business ideas to see and what we want the more than anything (well, maybe except for the grant money...) is for all 16 of the semi-final businesses to get the community recognition they deserve.
Unfortunately voting is only done through Facebook. If you are on Facebook please, please vote and share the link with everyone you know. This is a very tough competition and we really do need all the help we can get. Voting ends August 15th.
I have never done well with popularity contests, and that is what it feels like to ask for your vote. I am not fond of that feeling... and if it weren't for the prize money that we need so much I wouldn't ask this of you. So thank you in advance for even thinking of voting for us, and for all your support, all the time!

We have some great events for you this month, including a revamping and improving of our old Art Walk! It is now the first Thursday of every month and known as the Silverdale Loop community event. Come on down for a hot time in the Old Town Thursday night!

New Monthly Community Event:
Thursday August 7, 5-8 pm
The art walk is back... only better!
In conjunction with our friends at Visit Kitsap Peninsula, Lisa Stirrett's Glass Art Studio, Kitsap Art School of the Arts, and others, we are excited to offer a free community event on the first Thursday of every month.
We will have some complimentary wine for you to sip, coffee for the non-wine sippers, and if you bring us a donation for the food bank you'll get a free cookie! Stop by, relax, enjoy a picnic in the park or just check out the wonderful artists and artisans here and at the other venues.
August: Upstairs we will have Rebecca Lynn Parker and her works on hand from Juicy Fabric to feast your eyes on, and our neighbor Jason Parker from Parker Financial LLC will have his books here for discussion, sale, and signing.
So much fun for you to have! Perfect for date night, family night out, groups of friends, quality alone time, art appreciation, or whatever else you can think of!
DINING OUT FOR YOUTH!
Dine out and shop on Thursday August 21 at Monica's and other participating locations and we will all donate a percentage of our day's sales to Q-Youth Resources!
For our part, come on in and enjoy our fabulous food, or even just a cup of coffee on this day, and it will support our this important fundraiser. We will donate 30% of the day's sales to Q-Youth Resources, formerly Kitsap County HIV AIDS Foundation. Nothing is more important than nourishing our young generation as they become empowered women and men in our community.
My birthday is August 27th but I am going to be in a (super fun) class all day, so we will celebrate my BIRTHDAY EVE at the cafe.
Tuesday August 26th... as always we will have a party from 11-1 with complimentary chocolate chip cookies (my favorite!) until they are gone, and the drip coffee is on me, all day long. You all know I love giving gifts on my birthday and a few lucky winners will leave with gift certificates and other fun stuff.
