Here she is, Summer in full bloom! Our smoothies, milkshakes, sundaes and ice cream-cookie sandwiches are flying out the door in the hands of very happy, flip-flop clad, Summer loving folks. It is definitely the time of year when everyone wants a little more time off, a little more play time. The days are long and we want to pack them as full as we can... don't forget to take a quiet moment here and there to be " "idle and blessed" and to stroll through the fields.
I listed some fun activities below and a great resource for year-round fun as well to help make it easier to get out and enjoy this beautiful place we live. Visit Kitsap isn't just for visitors!
Our big news is that we have a new video to share on our web site and we are excited about it because it is part of our entry for the Edg3 Fund, by Kitsap Bank. Public voting will open up in August and while I normally dislike pandering very much, we will be asking you to vote for your favorite business idea in the contest. Whoever wins the prize will have a great leg-up for a community-oriented project and that is so special! The August newsletter will have more info, and we will post it on Facebook as well as the our web site when the time comes. As always, we cannot do anything without you! We will be closed Saturday July 25th
due to Whaling Days shutting down all the streets around us. If you are going you will find Mark selling cookies right in front of our building, on Byron street. Silverdale Farmer's Market is On!
Every Tuesday through September, 10 am-4 pm
This great market is in the Port of Silverdale parking lot on the waterfront and there are lots of local vendors there for you to shop and visit with. Along with plants and produce you can enjoy music, crafts, food, groceries and more!
MEET ME AT THE MARKET!
I will post "Meet me at the Market" on Twitter and Facebook whenever I can visit a local farmer's market, noting which market and what time I will get there. The first person to find me will win a prize: I will purchase something unique from one of our local farmers or vendors for you, and give you a recipe or method of preparation for it. Everyone who finds me can come along with me to meet our farmers!

Saturday July 26: The Tacoma Rainiers have teamed with the National Alliance to End Veteran Suicide (NA2EVS) again this summer to put together a great Veteran's Appreciation Day at Cheney Stadium.
The Veterans Appreciation Expo is 11 am-3:30 pm and includes a full line up of food, family fun, a car show, live music, and Veteran friendly resources. The Welcome Home Pre-Game Show is at 5:30 pm, followed by a doubleheader with the Sacramento River Cats. The Rainiers will be honoring Veterans throughout the night!
One ticket gets you into all of this, with two great options: Group Express Ticket - $15 (Reserved Seat game ticket & Ballpark meal)

Military Double Play Ticket - $25 (Reserved Seat game ticket, ballpark meal, limited edition Rainiers hat)

July 1 -August 2: As a lead-up to the Port Orchard Historic Home and Garden Tour sponsored by the Sidney Museum and Arts Association on July 26-27, the Sidney Art Gallery will be filled with a variety of floral and garden themed art. Many artists are contributing to this show which will include multiple mediums: watercolor, oils, photography, drawing, pastels, and acrylic art work. There will also be a Garden Party reception at the Sidney Art Gallery on Sunday, July 13th from 1-4 pm. The Sidney Art Gallery and Museum, operates Tuesday through Saturday 10 AM - 4 PM, and Sundays 1 - 4 PM. The Kitsap County Humane Society's annual PetsWALK is this Saturday July 12, from 9-1. PetsWALK is a unique, annual community event promoting good health and great fun while bringing people and their pets together to raise money for the animals of Kitsap Humane Society.
Ask friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, local businesses and others to help support Kitsap Humane Society. All the money raised goes toward the care of area animals in need.
After all everybody needs a little help now and then.
