Greetings!
~Ellen DeGeneres
You make me want to be better at everything I do, did you know that? A great example is how you were all so wonderful to me on my birthday. Really extra wonderful, and it reminded me of the huge amounts of love that surround me. It isn't that I actually forget that I am surrounded by love, it is the thing I am most grateful for every day. I do, however, get a little used to it, which is really saying something after my last career of being surrounded by... well... not love.
And while it is an amazing thing to get used to, it is an even more wonderful thing to be reminded of. I sort of expect my parents and friends and family to show me love on my birthday, I am rather spoiled that way. But all of you showing me so much love in one day sent my head spinning and my heart swelling for a long time. Thank you for all of that, and for the support you give our whole team, all the time. We love you, too!
Along the lines of love, do you know about the Kitsap Regional Library's 'One Book One Community' project? They have released several copies of this year's book "The Leisure Seeker" (a love story if I've ever read one) out into the community for folks to find. We found one at the cafe and I got to read it first, and the rest of the staff is taking turns with it as well.
I LOVE this project and I have only missed one book over the years. To me it represents the truest spirit of great community, as we all have a chance to share a story together, converse about our experiences with it, and pass it on. If you've read it, or are reading it, I would love to talk about it with you the next time you're in!
We can't wait to see you here!
~Monica

September 11th Remembrance Ceremony and Kitsap 9/11 Memorial Dedication
Wednesday September 11th, 2013
Evergreen Park: 1300 Highland Ave, Bremerton, 98337
Ceremony begins at 6:00 pm
Have you seen the WTC steel beams or the piece of the Pentagon that we have here in Kitsap? It is truly an amazing piece of history and we can all be part of the dedication ceremony.
It's a great idea to arrive early and bring a chair or a blanket to sit on, as there is limited seating.
May we never forget exactly how we felt, where we were and how much we all meant to each other on that horrible day. People across the country and around the world mark this day with a moment of silence.
The Kitsap 9-11 Memorial Project is dedicated to the men, women and children who lost their lives; those brave people who gave their lives and the Heroes that responded to the emergency on September 11th, 2001.
Many thousands of people remember September 11th as the day that their loved ones did not come home to them. We remember the fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, sisters and brothers -- whose memories we shall never forget.
Check out the history of this memorial on Facebook
