Greetings!
"Hey! It's summer! Be free and happy and danceful and uninhibited and now-y!"
~Terri Guillemets
It often feels like there is not enough time to do all the things I want to. As my life progresses I think that time flies by faster and faster all the time, even as it moves at the same pace it always has.
We have had such a wonderful Summer season. Not too hot for the most part, certainly not too cool or wet. I would say it was just about as perfect a Northwest Summer as we could hope for. I hope that you have been able to get out and enjoy this beautiful place we live!
It is so important to take some time to get outside and feel the warm sun on your face, the marine breeze on your arms, and smell the air filled with scents of the forest and the sea. It is worth it to restore your soul and relax, even if only for a few moments, though hopefully for a whole day, every so often.
On a different note, we owe a huge THANK YOU to Mike Barnet, of I Heart Kitsap, who made a video for us about our business. It is really, really good and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. You can see it here and we would love to know what you think!
We can't wait to see you here!
~Monica

"I will not play tug o' war. I'd rather play hug o' war. Where everyone hugs instead of tugs, Where everyone giggles and rolls on the rug, Where everyone kisses, and everyone grins, and everyone cuddles, and everyone wins."

Veteran Appreciation Day at Cheney Stadium
Saturday August 31
It's not on the peninsula, though we feel it is very worth mentioning: The Tacoma Rainiers have teamed with the National Alliance to End Veteran Suicide to put together a great Veteran's Appreciation Day at Cheney Stadium on Saturday August 31st.
It's a fun filled and resource packed day as one of the largest Veteran Appreciation events in the region. Events will kick off with The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball game from 11-1 pm. Following the Softball game, there will be tailgate event from 1-6 pm taking place in the parking lot behind Cheney Stadium (next to the outfield and Foss). This event will include a full line up of food, Veteran friendly resource vendors, fun, and live music. Attendees will head back inside Cheney Stadium for a Welcome Home pregame Show at 6:30 then concluding with the Tacoma Rainiers vs Sacramento River Cats game at 7 pm. The Rainiers will be honoring Veterans throughout the night, certainly not to be missed.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."
~Dr. Seuss
| | You may be thinking "How can I help?" Here is one small way:
It's back to school time and right here in Kitsap County there are nearly 600 homeless kids, Plus thousands of low-income, foster, and other children in need, who could really use some help getting supplies.
Bring your donations to Monica's we will make sure they get to our children in need. You may have items in your closet, or could go to the dollar store and pick a few things up...Backpacks are the hot ticket item! Every child deserves a decent bag or pack to carry their books in. Paper, pens and pencils, erasers, water based markers, pencil sharpeners, scissors, glue, glue sticks, rulers, calculators, folders, notebooks, binders, tape, construction paper, index cards, crayons, highlighters, back packs, shoes, socks, underwear, coats, scarves, gloves, lunch boxes, water bottles, and all clothing... and anything else you can think of.
Every little thing helps our children in need start their first day of school with the same pride and excitement as all the other kids. They don't deserve anything less!
Please bring these items in sooner than later, though we will NEVER turn donations away no matter when they come in; someone can always use it!
After all, everybody needs a little help now and then.
