Akron General and Cleveland Clinic Merger Discussion

The Greater Akron Chamber is a co-sponsor of this event.

Akron General Health System CEO Dr. Tim Stover and Cleveland Clinic CEO Dr. Toby Cosgrove will speak at the Akron Press Club on Tuesday, February 2. Lunch will be at 11:45 a.m., and the program will follow. There will be the opportunity for questions from the audience.

Cleveland Clinic officially took ownership of Akron General in November 2015. Cleveland Clinic will make at least $29.8 million in capital improvements to Akron General Health System in the first year of ownership and similar amounts annually for the next four years. This money is in addition to an initial investment of $100 million.  The relationship between Akron General and Cleveland Clinic has produced work teams that have been collaborating on a number of initiatives resulting in clinical improvements, cost savings and the sharing of best practices. Stover and Cosgrove will speak about the relationship during the luncheon.

The Morning Buzz
Morning Buzz
The Morning Buzz is a monthly speaker breakfast series which aims to connect small- and medium-size businesses by facilitating the exchange of ideas and strategies for business growth and success.

The shift to complete dependence on the Internet and related technologies has left us vulnerable to cybercrimes and intrusions aimed at bringing economic, social and political infrastructures to either instability, intrusion or a complete standstill.  Cybersecurity is among the leading issues facing businesses, corporate directors, officers, and general counsel as companies are becoming more proactive in protecting data, intellectual property, reputation, and customers.

On Friday, February 12, join us to hear a presentation on Cybersecurity from Special Agent Ganpat Wagh from the FBI.  He will share the likely perpetrators and targets of cybercrime, the methods of cybercrime, cyber-insurance, and discuss how to prevent, prepare for, and respond to cybercrime.

For information on how to reserve your table for the year or for sponsorship opportunities, please contact Kurt Leibensperger, Director of Membership, at (330) 237-1234 or kurt@greaterakronchamber.org.
