The Greater Akron Chamber has announced an awards program to recognize member businesses in Summit County for their support of arts and culture. The award will be presented in collaboration with Summit County's new collective of arts organizations and artists, "ArtsNow."  

"We know that the arts are important to our mission of attracting and retaining the best talent in Greater Akron," said Rebecca Guzy Woodford, Senior Vice President of the Chamber. "This new award allows us the opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of our business community and hopefully inspire other businesses to see how arts and culture can be part of their daily work."  Nominations are welcome from all Greater Akron Chamber members, and self-nominations are permitted, said Guzy.

ArtsNow, a new nonprofit organization with the mission of advancing arts and culture in Summit County has launched a countywide, interactive website that will feature arts and culture happenings. The website, www.summitlive365, went live October 15, 2015.

The Chamber participates in the Business Task Force of ArtsNow, which emerged from the 2014 Summit County Arts & Culture Initiative, funded by the GAR Foundation and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The task force will judge submissions for the award, which will be presented at the Chamber's Board of Directors meeting December 10, 2015, at Firestone Country Club.
