Election Guide
Voting is a right and the ultimate expression of our freedom. As the voice of the business community, the Greater Akron Chamber encourages our members to promote the importance of voting to their employees and to educate them on the ballot issues. Please visit the Government Affairs page of the Greater Akron Chamber website for more educational information on issues on the general election ballot this November 3, 2015.

STATEWIDE ISSUES 
 

State Issue 1: State Legislative Redistricting Amendment
is a proposed constitutional amendment that would create a bi-partisan Commission to redraw Ohio House and Senate districts after each decennial census. The amendment ensures a transparent process with the goal of having more compact and politically competitive districts. Proponents of this issue are "Fair Districts for Ohio" (www.fairdistrictsforohio.com).
The Greater Akron Chamber endorses this issue.  
   

State Issue 2: Anti-Monopoly Amendment
is a proposed constitutional amendment that would immediately prohibit any petitioner from using the Ohio Constitution to grant a monopoly, oligopoly, or cartel for their exclusive financial benefit or to establish a preferential tax status and to grant a commercial interest, right, or license that is not available to similarly situated persons or nonpublic entities.
The Greater Akron Chamber endorses this issue. 
 

State Issue 3: Marijuana Legalization Amendment
is a proposed citizen-led constitutional amendment that would legalize medicinal and recreational marijuana and place a monopoly in the Ohio Constitution on the cultivation, distribution, and taxation of the industry. Proponents of this amendment are "Responsible Ohio" (http://yeson3ohio.com/).   Opponents of this issue are "Ohioans Against Marijuana Monopolies" ( http://www.noissue3.com/).
The Greater Akron Chamber opposes this issue.
 
 
SUMMIT COUNTY ISSUES
 
Issue 21:
Summit County Council Redistricting Plan would create a five-member bipartisan Council Districting Commission to establish principles for apportionment of districts. Under this new plan, the commission would redraw district lines in 2020, and every ten years thereafter following a decennial census.

Issue 22: Fair Districts for Summit County is a plan that would create a five-member bipartisan Council Districting Commission to establish principles for apportionment of districts. The commission would redraw district lines immediately in 2016, and again after every decennial census.
