INFUSING COLOR INTO A ROOM

This month's Better Homes & Gardens had great suggestions on how to infuse bold color into a room without overpowering it. Here are some ideas to break out of the winter blues and welcome Spring! Keep Calm. Adding color doesn't mean painting walls a head-turning hue. Neutrals are an easy-to-live-with backdrop for color elsewhere. And no worries about a cold, stark feel - today's neutrals are shifting back to classic warm tones. Dip a Toe In. Because it's down below eye level - not in your face - a rug is the perfect place for an infusion of color. Try layering a colorful rug over your existing neutral floor coloring.
Set it Off. Try white trim rather than the same neutral as the walls. Contrast makes a room's traditional elements feel fresh.
Get Some Glimmer. Add some shimmer to a room with metal accents. Gold is the on-trend color for the season in both design and fashion. Add Colorful Accents. A pop of color with pillows, window treatments and other accessories can give you a bright, fresh look without taking over.
Expand Your Neutral Zone. Think neutral always means beige or gray? Think navy - layer with bright yellow and coral for a fresh look. Add legs to a sofa so that the navy doesn't look like a "black hole" - this will lift it off the floor and ensure a light and pretty room.
Be Natural. Count on plants for an easy hit of color and life. Other natural elements also inject warmth like sisal rugs or woven wood window shadings. These are beautiful in roller shades or roman shades for your windows. For added interest how about a folding door or sliding panels used as a room divider? Visit our showroom to see samples!
