"Contemporary Quilts from Traditional Textiles"
Exhibit Dates: October 13-28, 2013
Opening Reception: Monday, October 13, 2013
- Submission DEADLINE MAY 1, 2013!
As a friend of CE, you're invited to submit original work for our first fiber art exhibit at the Dei Centre in Ghana! It takes place during our trip, and will include works from our trip participants and some local artists, and maybe YOU, too! I can't wait to see all of your submissions! ------ lisa
Q. I need more time! Can I enter using a work-in-progress photo?
A. Yes, if you feel it conveys enough of the design for us to fairly evaluate it. You can then follow up with a new photo when it is complete. Please contact Lisa
before May 1 to discuss your submission & due date.
Q. My quilt is 45" x 60" - can I submit it?
A. To maintain some uniformity for the exhibit hanging, we've set a minimum length and width of 18", and a maximum length and width of 54". So...if either the length or width is smaller than 18", or larger than 54", unfortunately, it will not qualify for this show.
Q. I won't be submitting a piece, but I'd love to be involved...what can I do?
A. Please spread the word among your guilds, organizations and contacts, including those in Ghana. Feel free to forward any of our emails regarding the exhibit as you receive them! Also, stay tuned for information on sponsorship opportunities! Thanks ; )
Q. How should I price my work?
A. In brief, be sure to take into account all of your cost of materials, plus your labor, plus that X-factor representing your talent , experience and spirit. Then, remember to figure in the additional 35% gallery fee -- If you would sell your quilt for $800, price it at $1080 minimum.
Q. I made a quilt in 2009 that fits the criteria. Does my submission have to be a brand-new work?
A. You are more than welcome to enter existing work, even work that has been shown elsewhere. Your submission does not have to be a new creation.
