APS Microinverters are showcased in the new Grow Community on Bainbridge Island, Wash., the state's largest planned solar-ready development.

The project is being developed by Asani in three phases with 44 homes in each. The community includes a range of residential units including detached townhomes and multifamily residences, with a community center and public green space in the mix.



Each home solar system uses 24-34 APS microinverters tied to 240-270W PV panels by itek energy. Solar output of individual residential systems ranges from 2.9 kW to 8.9 kW, with more than 112 kW capacity completed or now under installation. With a goal of completing 132 residential units by 2016, the One Planet certified Grow Community solar homes will eventually save between 2.5 and 3 tons of coal per year.

U.S. Congressman Derek Kilmer visited the APS America offices near Seattle recently.

Kilmer, who represents Washington's 6th Congressional District, saw firsthand the assembly and testing of APS microinverters as they were readied for shipment around the country. Kilmer and APS America CEO Kelly Samson discussed Washington state's thriving solar industry and solar energy opportunities nationally.
