Prescription drug abuse is a serious, growing problem in the United States, especially among pre-teens, adolescents, and young adults. To support school nurses, students, and families/caregivers, NASN provides prevention programming and other resources, including education courses, tools, and more.

AAAAI Announces the School-based Asthma Management Program (SAMPRO™)

Improving health and school-related outcomes for children with asthma requires integrated care coordination amongst families, clinicians, and school nurses. To facilitate this, the AAAAI is now home to the School-based Asthma Management Program (SAMPRO™), which standardizes recommendations for school-based asthma management and provides useful resources for the care of children with asthma in schools.
Local School Wellness Policy Implementation Under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010: Summary of the Final Rule

The wellness policy requirement, established by the Child Nutrition and Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children Reauthorization Act of 2004 and further strengthened by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010), requires each local educational agency participating in the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program to develop a wellness policy. The final rule expands the requirements to strengthen policies and increase transparency. Learn more.
