National School Nurse Day, Wednesday, May 11, 2016, is just a month away! This is the perfect time to spread the word about the vital role of the school nurse. NASN is happy to provide the tools you need in the BetterHealth.BetterLearning.TM e-Toolkit. This e-toolkit is designed to empower us - the school nurse - to improve the understanding of our role and increase awareness among our students, their families, and our communities. The BetterHealth.BetterLearningTM e-Toolkit has tip sheets, fast facts and statistics, articles, numerous resources, sample presentations, letters, emails to connect with legislators, and so much more. There are also key messages that help highlight the importance of school nurses. [ NOTE: NASN members will be prompted to login to access downloadable resources in the e-toolkit.] Thank you for being a school nurse! Beth Mattey, MSN, RN, NCSN NASN President @bethmattey

Survey on School Nurse Workforce
NASN is partnering with University of Washington Bothell to conduct a national study about the school nursing workforce. There were 2,646 public and private schools around the country randomly selected to participate in the online web survey that will provide critical data about the number, training, and work of school nurses. Invitation letters were sent out in April. The study has been approved by the University of Washington Human Subjects board as exempt (minimal to no risk). If you or your school has received an invitation letter, please help us by completing it!
