The critical role of the school nurse is emphasized again in a March USNews & World Report article, "Many School Districts Don't Have Enough School Nurses," where I offered a few insights. "This absolutely has real consequences," says Beth Mattey, president of the National Association of School Nurses. "If you have a child who isn't healthy, who doesn't feel well, who has a toothache, they will not learn. School nurses keep kids in schools." [USNews & World Report]
Thank you for all you do!Beth Mattey, MSN, RN, NCSN NASN President @bethmattey

Empowering work conditions are essential for nurses, especially school nurses, and are one component of job satisfaction. In addition, discretionary behaviors such as trust, altruism, and courtesy, help to shape work environments. Please participate in a study to explore these relationships in the school setting. The survey takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Click here to access the survey and learn more about the survey and incentive drawing of a gift card. Contact Connie Bowler at cfb65@case.edu for questions. This study is not sponsored by NASN, although the approved and necessary NASN Process for Mailings and Research was followed, which includes a review and approval by NASN Research Advisory Board and staff. This is an independent study being conducted by person indicated above and all concerns should be directed to that person.
