The Great Lice Debate: More Schools are Abolishing 'No-Nit' Policies and Choosing Not to Send Students Home
Star Tribune / Minnesota

It's not causing health complications," said Cindy Hiltz, NASN member and former NASN Director, and a nurse and health services coordinator for the Anoka-Hennepin (MN) School District. Schools have been gradually moving away from the old ways of dealing with head lice ... "It doesn't yield much information, and it took up class time and the nurse's time and the teacher's time," said Beth Mattey, NASN President (DE). Cutting down on unnecessary absences also was an aim ... "Kids can't learn if they're at home," said Mary Yackley, NASN member and supervisor of student health and wellness for St. Paul Public Schools (MN). Read the article.
