NASN Joins Forces with the Coalition to Support Grieving StudentsNASN is part of an exciting new collaboration, the Coalition to Support Grieving Students, which brings together the nation's leading education organizations to help empower school communities across America in the ongoing support of their grieving students. The Coalition will be formally launched at an event in Washington, D.C., on January 13. South Carolina Flu Spiked, Rather than Dipped, During Holiday Break The State / South Carolina's Homepage Rather than diminish as hoped during the holiday break, the incidence of flu in South Carolina blew up in late December, which translates into sick folks returning to work or schools Monday. NASN State Director for South Carolina Jessica Porter said, "The (school) nurses are the second line of defense against the spread of influenza in the schools. The first is the parents. The rule of thumb is don't send children to school until they have been without fever for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication." School nurses anticipate a busy first week. Read the Article.
