School Nurses: Supporting Education, Advancing Student Health

As we take a moment to reflect upon the two profound words that mark the anniversary of September 11th, "Never Forgotten," we are reminded that school nurses not only work to ensure students are healthy and ready to learn, but also that they are safe at school. Safety takes on-going collaboration with local and state agencies as well as with our Members of Congress. The need for collaboration is especially acute with emergency preparedness.

I invite you to revisit the NASN position statement, Emergency Preparedness and Response in the School Setting - The Role of the School Nurse, to connect the memories of this important day with school nursing action to safeguard the futures of our students.

In Reflection and Hope.

Carolyn L. Duff, MS, RN, NCSN
NASN President
