NASN has partnered with the National Eye Institute (NEI) to make healthy vision a priority throughout the nation's schools. According to NEI, 80 percent of what a child learns is visual - making it critical that we, as school nurses, ensure students protect vision by getting a dilated eye exam, living a healthy lifestyle, using protective eye wear, and wearing sunglasses. NASN has resources to assist you in educating your students and their families about healthy vision. Let's keep our vision healthy! Carolyn Duff, MS, RN, NCSN, President of NASN
