MuCell® Technology Beneficial for Unique Packaging Applications

Innovative 3D In-Mold Technology Provides Multi-Sensory Experience for Consumers

Trexel, Inc is pleased to make the global introduction of their MuCell® 3D in mold labeling (IML) process for packaging applications. This unique and award winning process creates the look of embossed labeling on the package without any need for additional tooling costs. Instead the "embossed" look comes from the enablement of 3D labels.

Trexel Japan is a joint venture with Matsui Mfg. Co. the leading plastics auxiliary manufacturer in Japan. The headquarters are co-located with Matsui's new Tokyo sales office in Osaki, about 20 minutes south of the center of Tokyo.

Trexel Japan has been established with the objective to support the local injection molding end user markets in the automotive, consumer electronics and packaging end user markets. "Japan is a very promising market for our technology," says Steve Braig, Trexel President and CEO. "The growing demand for reduced costs and sustainability allow the advantages of our MuCell process to stand apart. We see great opportunity with the Japanese automotive sector specifically as they can benefit greatly from our lightweighting process technology. The consumer goods and packaging end user markets also reap the rewards of MuCell by producing a dimensionally stable plastic product at a reduced cost."

Trexel Japan maintains MuCell development centers at its injection molding machine partners JSW and Toshiba, at the polymer centers of the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University as well as the Tool builder Kyowa Industrial Co. Ltd.

To better service the existing and growing customer base in Japan, local process engineers and technological resources support the Trexel Japan Co. Ltd. sales organization.
