Greetings!
Here is your news for February 24-28, 2014
at Sullins Academy.

BE WATCHING..
2014-15 ENROLLMENT CONTRACTS ARE COMING SOON!
-Professional Development-
You're never too old to learn something new!

In the United States, 30% of students in sixth grade already have trouble with basic reading and writing. These literacy problems affect performance across subject areas, and they often leave teachers wondering how to help. Sullins Academy is proud to have all of our first through fourth grade teachers participating in a six week professional development program to improve our overall student literacy framework and fine tune guided reading and writing strategies. The road to literacy is also the road to ingenuity, invention, and imagination. Each of these educators is eager to learn more and share this knowledge through creativity that will excite your child each day.

Thank you for your support of the Sullins Academy
Professional Development Fund.

Wednesday's Pancake Breakfast was a FLIPPING Success!

A standing ovation goes to Debbie Worley for her world renown batter and cooking expertise.  Special thanks to McDonald's and Chefs Blake Bassett, Chris White, Ed Rogers, Rick Carroll, and even one-armed Shelley Fennell.   The morning could not have happened without all the crew's help - and all the students, families, faculty and staff that helped make this year's event a huge success!  Thank you.

Spring Basket Raffle

We are gearing up for the Spring Basket Raffle that will be held as part of the "Bringing Back the BBQ"  fundraiser  in March. Please consider donating a basket to  this special event.  It is your chance to be creative, get our students enthused, and help make the overall Auction a success!  (These make nice Easter gifts, too!)  We will be needing baskets for all ages, preschool through middle school.  A sign-up sheet will be at the front desk with guidelines for choosing a theme and listing your choice of basket if you wish to do so.  Please deliver baskets to the school the week of March 3-7 with the donation form attached to the basket, in order to receive gift credit for your in-kind contribution.  Ticket sales for the baskets begin on March 10th and the drawing will be on Wed, April 2.  More information is enclosed in Friday Folders this week.

Sullins Spring Auction
 Fine Wine Collection
We are continuing a coveted prize at this Spring's auction - a collection of fine wine for the beginner or connoisseur.  If you are looking for a way to support the Auction, we ask you to consider donating one or more bottles of wine for this popular Silent Auction item.  All the selections will be auctioned as a single, outstanding collection for one fortunate bidder.  So, choose your favorite or take an easier route and call Aulikki or Paul at Inari Wines http://inariwines.com at 276-821-9463.

These knowledgeable merchants have picked out a nice variety of wines ranging from $25 +.  No need to go anywhere!
Call and place your order today!
An auction volunteer will pick up the donated wines from Inari prior to the Auction.
Remember to complete an auction donation form, listing the value of your contribution(s)and turn that in to Katy Sikorski for gift credit.
