Middle School Update from Mrs. Vandeventer
 |
Vera Vandeventer
|
Parent conferences are being scheduled now for students in grades 6-8. Parents should sign up for a conference with their child's advisor. It is a time to become more familiar with the middle school community and learn about the students' short and long term goals. Advisors will discuss academic progress and answer any questions and concerns that parents may have. Each advisor will send a link via RenWeb to sign up.
The middle school Halloween tradition is returning to Sullins! The eighth grade students will be constructing a haunted hallway for intermediate students to visit. Preschool and kindergarten will trick or treat in each advisory and enjoy time with the middle school students. It promises to be a day of spells, potions, and ghoulish fun for all. Parents are welcome to stop by after the lower school costume judging for a photo opportunity around 10:00.
Winter sports season is just around the corner. Check the newsletter for game and meet times. Practice schedules will be given to all participants.

News from the Library for Kindergarten through
Third Grade
On Monday, October 28, 2013, at 12:30, the children's book author David M. Sargent, Jr., will visit with K-3 students. Sargent will enlist the help of his four canine friends who are the characters in his Doggie Tails series for this presentation. During the assembly, Sargent will encourage the students to try story writing themselves. The students will be able to make purchases from the many books he has written and talk with the author. He will be happy to sign those purchases.
Please feel free to join your child for this program in the gymnasium if you wish. Mr. Sargent will be available in the library for the book signings.
