News and Notes
The Directory Is Going Paperless Next Year
Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, our directory will only be available online or via the Directory Spot App we have been using for three years. If you haven't already used Directory Spot, now would be a great time to try it out!

You can access the directory online on your desktop at Directoryspot.net or by downloading the Directory spot app for free.

Here are directions for downloading the app and for first time users. Username is the parent 1 email address you provided to the district.

It's Earth Week and we've got some 
GREAT News.....

WE WON THE TREX PLASTIC BAG CHALLENGE AGAIN!
During the 2015-2016 school year, Hubbard Woods placed first among participating Winnetka Schools. Through this year's Trex Plastic Bag Challenge, Winnetka Schools kept approximately 1,000 lbs of plastic out of landfill!

Plastic bag collection ends this week. Moving forward please recycle them at local grocery stores.

Field Day T-Shirts!
Time to consider ordering a cool 2016 Field Day t-shirt for your student. T-shirt cost is only $6 with a ordering deadline of Friday, May 13th. Click here for ordering instructions and form.

Grand Foods Receipt Challenge

We're nearing the end of the April Grand Foods Receipt Challenge. Turn in your Grand Foods receipts to your child's teacher. The winning classroom gets a McFlurry party!

4th Grade Parents, SAVE THE DATE

The 4th grade Farewell Breakfast is on Wednesday, June 8th from 7:30am-8:30am.
Look for an invitation in your child's backpack this week. Please note, the breakfast is a very special event for 4th grade students and their parents. Please arrange child care for siblings.

Also, dig around for a baby photo of your 4th grader, ideally between the ages of 8 months and 2 years old. We'll be collecting images early May.

MAYFEST DETAILS
Our annual carnival-themed fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, May 22nd from 11am - 3pm, rain or shine.

WHAT AN AMAZING TRIP DOWN UNDER!
Congratulations to the World Travelers committee and the fantastic children who worked together to pull off a phenomenal World Travelers Travelogue and Luncheon. Students Joey and Riggs Williams, Arden, Hunter and Maddie Kain, and Victoria and Sophia Amin brought Australia to life with a fun, interactive presentation on Wednesday.

Tine Tschackert, Nichole Kain, Laura Williams, Gina Dillig, Erin Donaldson, Gina Fechheimer, Dena Ferdinand, Kate Neal, Becky, Theo and Zara Sanderson and Nurca and Kaan Bozkurt cooked and served a delicious lunch on Friday. Thanks to all for creating such an amazing experience for the children!


Congrats to Brooke Helmstetter, Nidhi Singh, Sarah Graham, Lori Miralles, Abby Burtelow, Kendal Reis, Lauren Laboyer and Jen Hayes who were unanimously voted onto the PTO Executive Board for 2016-17.

Don't Miss This Important Parent Book Talk
This spring's selection, "How to Raise an Adult: Break Free of the Parenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success" by Julie Lythcott-Haimes, centers on preparing children to be self-reliant in an era of over-parenting. Trisha Kocanda, Superintendent, and Susan Hugebeck, Greeley School Principal, will facilitate discussions. The book is available at The Book Stall in downtown Winnetka. Attendance at both sessions is not required.
