World Travelers - Back From Turkey!
Our second World Travelers voyage was a big hit! We learned that the turkey bird was named after it was imported to England from Africa, via Turkey. We also learned many Turkish children can say they live in Asia and go to school in Europe - since Turkey is located on both continents!
For the World Travelers meal, kids enjoyed delicious Turkish foods from Cafe Orchid, including meatballs, flatbread, bulgur, rice and Turkish custard.
A huge thank you to our speaker, Nurca Bozkurt, for all her hard work putting the interesting presentation together. Also, thank you to the entire World Travelers PTO committee, lead by Tine Tschackert, for their hard work putting these events on!

Check Out the IDEA Lab in Action!
Some of you may have heard about the recent wagon project that grew from an idea the second grade team had. They wanted something to house and help move their growing sets of books.
The second grade researched, prototyped and built their own wagons. Check out the latest A Zen Librarian post from Todd Burleson, to see this amazing collaboration from start to finish.

From Mr. Wendt....
Thank you to the HW PTO for the purchase of 2 sound domes for the music room hallway. The beginning of our "Sound Forest," all classes at HW will be recording their musical work - singing, playing, composing - and will become DJs developing playlists to play throughout the day.
We are excited about the possibilities these domes provide for our kids, for the wonderful
music that will greet everyone coming and going from the playground, and
for the ability to share the gift of music with everyone!
