Digital Citizenship Week 2014: Oct. 19-25
What is Digital Citizenship? How is it being taught at Hubbard Woods School and around the nation? What is Common Sense Media and why should I care? If one or more of these questions piques your interest, and as parents of elementary-age students they should, please click HERE to learn more about it. This month I share one of the most valuable resources you'll ever find when it comes to managing and taming the internet with and for children.
On Thursday, October 30th the District will be hosting a presentation entitled
Raising Digital Natives at The Skokie School
9am - Elementary School Parents
11am - Middle School Parents
There will be a presentation by New Trier Superintendent, Dr. Linda Yonke, betweeen the two sessions at 10:30am.

Picture Retake Day is October 27
Please note that Picture Retake Day has been rescheduled to Monday, October 27, due to a delay in receiving our photos. If you missed picture day, are unhappy with your child's picture, or just want a do-over, you have one more chance! IMPORTANT: If you have already taken pictures, you MUST return them to the photographer, along with the envelope, to receive full credit. Please keep the individual class photo as that will NOT be retaken. If you are a parent of an afternoon kindergartner and want a retake, you will need to bring your child to school that morning between 8:45 and 10:45 am. Questions? Contact Becky Sanderson at beckysanderson@hotmail.com.

Shopping For Halloween Candy?
Or A Tailgating Party?
Don't forget to bring in your Grand Food Center receipts to Hubbard Woods. It's a win-win: you support the Hubbard Woods PTO and The Grand at the same time. The Grand generously donates 3% of the pre-tax amount to the PTO on each receipt collected from the Winnetka and Glencoe stores. Just drop off your Grand receipts in the box in front of Joan Kuzel's desk.

Thanks to everyone for supporting Hubbard Woods's first International Walk To School Day on October 8. Did you notice there were no cars during drop-off last Wednesday? Safety Patrol had nothing to do! What a great problem to have. Remember, every Wednesday is Walk To School Wednesday.
|
Also, many thanks to Gwen Oelerich for spearheading the gift wrap sales and for working with her team to make it a successful fundraiser for Hubbard Woods. We also thank Fran Fairman for coming up with so many creative solutions to beautify the grounds of Hubbard Woods.
