Lightning Challenge College showcase on West Hempstead, Long Island
Little guards that packed a big scoring punch
2015 PG Mei Lyn Bautista NY
.
Bautista well know for her unselfishness and passing abilities as a lead guard, looked more aggressive this weekend looking for her shot. With the evaluation period less then a week away, I'm sure Bautista was using this event to get ready. She showed the ability to consistently knock down the 3 point shot off the dribble, in addition to the ability to get into the lane and create havoc.
2015 PG Lauren "Boogie" Brozoski NY
Brozoski is the runaway top prospect on long Island in her class at this point. Her recruitment is wide open and will be one of the top young playmakers to watch this summer. Her best fit is going to an up tempo program where she can play in the open floor and score in transition. She has all the tools and intangibles for a point guard. She is willing to play in your face defense, evidenced by her taking charges at a non view event while wearing a face mask. She was vocal in getting teammates into position and willing to take and make critical shots at the end on the game. Boogie plays with a high level motor and has a enormous competitive streak.
2015 PG Amy McConnell CT
This South Windsor HS guard stands no taller than 5-foot-5 McConnell may not be at the level of Bautista and Brozoski , but not many at this event were. I did not plan on scouting her team, but every time I looked over to her court she was connecting on long jumpers. She caught my eyes with her ability to flat out score and mostly shoot, she played both on and off the ball at times.
