Greetings!

Over the decades, South Haven's natural beauty has proven a magnet for artists of all types and cultural enthusiasts. The community provides fertile ground for talent with a host of venues dedicated to visual and performing arts, such as Foundry Hall at the Warren Center and Listiak Auditorium, located in South Haven High School.

Van Buren County is also home to the Blue Coast Artists, a juried group of working artists who have joined together for the purpose of promoting, creating and educating the public about art. Each site features original handmade work by the resident artist.

From its stages and galleries, South Haven's range of cultural venues is an open field for creativity and expression unlocking grand journeys into the human spirit.

For assistance in planning your vacation, the staff of the South Haven Convention & Visitors Bureau is here seven days a week to offer recommendations for lodging, dining, shopping and things to see and do while visiting. Please phone 1.800.SO.HAVEN or visitwww.southhaven.org.

Dyckman Avenue Bascule Bridge Reopens!

The Dyckman Avenue drawbridge reopened Friday, May 15, after being closed for extensive renovations for seven months. The $2.4 million project included replacing the deck and hydraulic systems, upgrading the control and electric systems, replacing traffic gates, signals and roadway lights, and resurfacing the roadway and sidewalks.

City officials also decided to replace aging water and sewer mains on Dyckman Avenue, between the bridge and Park Avenue. The roadway was then resurfaced, and new sidewalks, curbs and gutters installed.
Can you imagine the South Haven Pier without our famous lighthouse?
It could happen.

Our century old South Haven lighthouse is in need of some major attention! It looks beautiful on the outside, of course, but on the inside it's a different story! Corrosion is threatening to destroy the base, seams, windows and stairs. It has been estimated that the cost of repairs to preserve our lighthouse for another 100 years will be $275,000. In 2012 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers handed ownership over to the Historical Association of South Haven who has recently made a separate committee to collect financial support for preservation efforts. Be sure to check out their website at www.southhavenlight.org and YouTube video to see how you can help!
