The Westchase District Community Fund recently presented a check for $2,500 to Playworks Texas, a national nonprofit serving elementary schools and organizations across the U.S., including programs at Sneed Elementary School, located in Westchase District at 9885 Pagewood.

Playworks leverages play as a tool to promote healthy behaviors and improving the learning environment in elementary schools. Playworks' model uses recess, a time in the school day often overlooked, as an opportunity to boost learning, reduce bullying, build valuable social-emotional skills and increase opportunities for physical activity for all kids.

"With this check, we're able to improve school culture and work with teachers on the holistic development of our children during their time at school and beyond," said Sheroo Mukhtiar, executive director for Playworks Texas. "We thank the Westchase District Community Fund for its generous support."
