Last Chance to Give H-GAC Input on Mobility
Westchase District mobility
The Houston-Galveston Area Council invites area residents and business owners to attend its fourth and final public meeting to share thoughts about the area's mobility. It's all part of the Subregional Planning Initiative to identify long-range transportation goals.

Share your vision with area leaders and planners, and hear their initial findings on existing conditions, future population and employment growth predictions at an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18 at Wolfe Elementary School, 502 Addicks-Howell Road, Houston, TX 77079. Contact Stephan Gage for more.

Tomorrow is your last chance this year for fresh, local holiday gifts for teachers, coworkers, friends and family. Some ideas:

- A jar of "Guac 'N Roll" from The Salsa Works
- Bath salts and body products from LUXE Heavenly Bodies
- Or, how about some bison jerky from Katera Exotics?

The Market will reopen on Thursday, January 8.

Oh Ye of Ladle Faith: Rotary Club's Third Annual Soup'er Bowl Jan. 30
Friends-Joey Soup
Mmm, soup.
Sure, you can turn soup into gold simply by adding 24 carrots, but financially-strapped college students need something more, well, substantial.

Here's an opportunity for all you consomme professionals to bring your favorite soup and a spirit of competitive fun to raise funds for Houston Westchase Rotary Club student scholarships at the Third Annual Soup'er Bowl. It all gets cooking from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 at Quillian Center, 3663 Westcenter Drive.

Don't beet around the borsch: to register a team or to sponsor the event, make it snappy like Alligator stew and call Robert Jaehne, 713-774-7878.

And hey - you might not like soup puns, but they don't broth-er miso much.
