September 29, 2015To the members of the Rocky Mountain Annual Conference,
I am writing to notify you of changes to district boundaries within the Rocky Mountain Conference that will take effect January 1, 2016.
For several years the assignments of churches to district superintendents in eastern Colorado and Wyoming have not followed established district boundaries. This first occurred to enable the Wyoming experiment where churches from both the Rocky Mountain Conference and the Yellowstone Conference share one superintendent and for adjustments to Colorado Church affiliations that allow more natural affiliations. However, this arrangement has caused confusion in the affected districts that needs to be resolved.
With the goal of making district boundaries consistent with district superintendent assignments, consultations were held with interested persons from Wyoming, Peaks and Plains, and Sunshine Districts in Limon, Colorado, in July.
I am now ready to adjust district boundaries. According to the provisions of
Book of Discipline 415.4, district boundaries will be changed to conform to district superintendent responsibilities, effective January 1, 2016. The assignment of churches to districts and sub-districts is attached below, along with a map showing the new district boundaries. Names of the districts will be announced soon.
Thanks to everyone who planned and participated in the July consultation, and those of you who will help churches and district organizations make this transition graceful. I know that it will take time to make all the necessary changes, and hope that these can be completed by the end of 2016. We all hope that these changes will help us all settle into a stable, sustainable new chapter of our life together.
God be with you as the seasons shift and we celebrate the blessing of another year's harvest.
Your servant in Christ,
Elaine J. W. Stanovsky
