Conference Hispanic ministries gather for fun, unity
Family event at Buckhorn United Methodist Camp held Fourth of July weekend

During the Fourth of July weekend, three ministries from our conference got together for a time of celebration and unity. The Hispanic ministry at Rawlins UMC, Pan de Vida at Brentwood UMC, and El Remanente at First Aurora UMC attended their third annual family camping trip to Buckhorn United Methodist Camp in Bellvue, Colorado.

Desert Southwest Conference team helps restore Buckhorn Camp following fire

The Desert Southwest team contacted us in 2014 and brought a tight-knit crew to help cleanup and reopen more areas of camp to campers. We had no idea of the strength, determination, hard work, and dedication this group would bring. This amazing team has returned a few times now with June 1-June 20 as their most recent visit. My biggest challenge as director of Mission and Ministry  of the Conference is to place this challenge in front of us: How do we equip ourselves in reaching out to multicultural ministries? Prayer Requests

Please pray for the family of the Rev. John Thomas Bennanzar, retired clergy, who died June 23. A small celebration of his life was held July 1 in Denver with his family and close friends. Bennanzar served the Rocky Mountain Conference from 1963 until his retirement in 1994. Condolences can be sent to his nephew: John Sillyman, 13 Arbor Lane, Hanover, PA 17331.

Please pray for the family of the Rev. Will Glenn Bowman, who died on July 6. He served the Rocky Mountain Conference from 1958 to 1966. There are no other details at this time.

Upcoming Deadlines

July 31 is the deadline for Blueprint for Wellness registration. Active clergy: Don't pass up the chance to get a $200 HRA for 2016. This was approved by the Rocky Mountain Conference Board of Pension & Health Benefits. You need to complete the Blueprint for Wellness by July 31 to get this extra benefit. Click here for more information and to schedule a screening.

Sept. 15 is the deadline to apply for a Legacy Fund Grant. Per the Legacy Fund Committee's guidelines, the intent of the Legacy Fund is to provide critical funding for projects and encourage ministries that will make a difference and enhance vital congregations.
